I have been following several posts on the egg hatching process for many chameleon species. I was wondering out of simply because i'm curious. "why does it take so long for chameleon eggs to develop"?

in my opinion (just a guess) i would think only because of the climate they have evolved to may be a lil harsh on reptile eggs so they go through a duration period (kinda like waiting out the cold, then as its warm again they develop and hatch)but it is weird to me since they mature quite quickly..and the larger they get (parsons) the longer the eggs take...
