I just need to rant.
So, I was out running errands yesterday and instead of stopping in at my usual pet store, I stopped in at one closer to my destination and bought Kukui a few dubias and crickets for the week.
While waiting for them to get my buggies, I decided to check out the reptiles they had for sale.
And I nearly pooped my pants at the nutso prices they were asking!!!!!!!!!!
Male veiled, about 5 months old, decent coloring, but nothing too spectacular...$350.
Bearded Pygmy, again, nothing too spectacular ... $150
Ambilobe panther male, rather pretty coloring ... $900
Jackson chameleon, male, crooked horns, dark coloring and looked like the start of mouth rot ... $350
I mentioned something to the manager on duty, asking why the prices were so high for the chameleons, but so low for the other reptiles (general market prices for all the snakes and other reptiles). He said it was because chameleons were hard to find.....
I also suggested that he remove the substrate, the waterfalls, the heated rocks, and glass cages. I thought I did so tactfully, but his response was "we're a pet store, I think we know what we are doing."
His attitude pissed me off, the prices were outrageous, and I overpaid for the crickets and dubias. I was overall appalled and had to rant and get this out before I exploded.
