im looking for an incubator for my panther chameleons eggs she will hopefully be laying soon! there are two kinds of the hovabator, the thermal air flow and the turbofan. both i think do the same job, but ones more expensive. is there a plus side to getting either one for panther eggs? or any other suggestions as to other incubators or ways of taking care of the eggs... let me know :D

Don't get an incubator unless your house is super hot or super cold. They need to be incubated around 75F, that is about room temperature. As long as you can keep them from 70 to 80 you should be fine.

I bought the air flow the fan will dry the egg substrate out faster. Incubators keep the temperatures consistent with very little fluctuation maybe 2 to 3 degree drop at night will occur which is what you want.

Ok...I have heard a lot about the night time drops...read all about them. Just want to say that most panthers lay about 12" or more deep. The ground temps do not change at night...maybe a some from season to season. I have read tons about it...with parsons...Ken Kalish especially played with nighttime drops and what especially he found...even for parsons who are a montane species that would have more nighttime drops in temps, is that he had a much higher hatch rate keeping it consistent at 75F.

I say don't spend the money on an incubator and that is how I feel.

I am not bent...that is why I said "that is how I feel." Basically we agree to disagree...but I was wondering if anyone could give a bit more info on temp drops at night...maybe I should start a new thread for that.
