Important Physiological Question...

I honestly don't know whether to laugh or be totally grossed out by that story. Thanks for the link!

WHERE did the egg come from then?

And yea, at least the guy didnt eat it though..but very weird..it crawled up the chickens bum.. LOL My hubby would have scooped it out and chased the kids around with it!

That is neat. I was thinking that's probably how it happened - looked like a gecko (nocturnal), and a tiny gecko loves tight, dark places... Imagine he thought it was a good idea. Probably a cold night when it happened. Poor sucker.

I dont care how cold it is, Im not gonna crawl up the bum of something else. LOL..:)

Egg came from whatever the most recent ancestor of a chameleon was.
Hopeful Monster Mechanism. It's an addition to the Darwin's theory of evolution, but helps explain rapid speciation in more complex organisms.

I got you..but I was thinking more along the lines of the FIRST dinosaur or relative.. Where did animals come from ya know?

Bacteria -> Archaea -> Protista -> Plantae -> Fungi -> Animalia

The first animals came from ... Mushrooms! (not really, but close to it)

Sounds like you guys got it...

My thinking says the egg came first... As animals have been hatching from eggs even since long before the evolution of the Land dwelling animals we know today.

The question would be... What was the first living oragansim to evolve to hatch from an egg.

You also have to ask yourself what can you consider an egg? Just because a species gives live birth...does not mean that there are not eggs present right?
