I just got this from vincent from screameleons that i though mainly newbie owners and some veterans should check out he is so right with this email!!!
Guys,
Summer is here and the temps are getting warmer. Please keep an eye on those indoor temps in your chameleons cage. While we often think that chameleons are tropical and can handle heat, it is absolutely not true. In fact, too hot is just as dangerous as being too cold.
Chameleons thermoregulate . This means they climb near their heat bulb to warm up, and climb away to cool off. When the room temp starts to rise, they really have no way to cool off. This can be fatal!
Double check that your indoor room temps are still about 75 degrees. If your room temps are above 80 degrees, consider moving them into the basement for the summer. The temps down there tend to be cooler and more stable.
Please be careful guys. Thanks!
Vincent
