I just got this from vincent from screameleons that i though mainly newbie owners and some veterans should check out he is so right with this email!!!
Guys,

Summer is here and the temps are getting warmer. Please keep an eye on those indoor temps in your chameleons cage. While we often think that chameleons are tropical and can handle heat, it is absolutely not true. In fact, too hot is just as dangerous as being too cold.

Chameleons thermoregulate . This means they climb near their heat bulb to warm up, and climb away to cool off. When the room temp starts to rise, they really have no way to cool off. This can be fatal!

Double check that your indoor room temps are still about 75 degrees. If your room temps are above 80 degrees, consider moving them into the basement for the summer. The temps down there tend to be cooler and more stable.

Please be careful guys. Thanks!

Vincent

thanx for posting this .. looks like ill be moving my cham his cage at bottom temp right now has been reaching almost 90 degrees were in a heat wave right now soo its hot at my place :(

For those in the KNOW what are considered the optimal ambient temps for panthers?
I have been running 76-78 deg in the day and 70 deg at night.

The reason I ask is that from what I have heard/read optimal is a 10 deg night time ambient temp drop. 65 seems to be the low end of what it should or could be at night but if day ambient is 75 that would put the low with 10 deg drop right at what I understand to be the low end.

I recently installed an AC unit in the cham room so I can keep ambient temps perfect for them without effecting the others in the house. I'm just not positive what perfect is :D

yeah me too but seeing vince sent this to me and after rereading kammers panthers care sheet i thought i'd share this for you all you can never be to careful with your babies know what i mean!!!
