Immunazation Shots! :(

Not sure if this was posted, but I've talked to my doctor.

Legally they CAN NOT make you get shots. I would know, my greatest fear is shots, I will start freaking out and I have passed out at the sight of a shot before.. no idea why. I just get that way.

The most your school can make you do is make you stay home if and ONLY if there is an outbreak.

And please don't call me a big baby, I'm sure some of you get the same way with blood, etc.

I have to agree with Betty (OMG dont tell her :D) you guys took it over, once is a freindly 'man up' joke, but you kept at it. Give Clea a break, we all fear something, I dont like needles either!
I think he just wanted an honest answer what to expect, not continuous ribbing, and further making fun of him because you thought he beleived your nurse nonsense.

Im sure it'll go just fine Clea, dont worry about it, before you know it , itll be over and done. Keep Smiling :)

I hate needles and shots....I had to have blood drawn last week for some tests :(

I usually find though its the build up thinking about it and the stress of the dwelling on it thats actually worse than the needle itself. I worried about it for 3 days and it was over in less than a minute  After its was I laughed at myself for being so worried :D

Great advice Syn!

I know my daughter was NOT allowed to be enrolled into school without her shots and a TB test. They will not accept them, so I dont know how it would not be required. I know there are SOME vaccines you can refuse such as the ear infection vaccine and things of that nature, maybe laws are different in Arizona.
As for tetnus shot, I think those are far worse then any other shots! I hate shots too. I wonder sometimes how I managed to have 2 kids but am terrified of shots...:p

Actually, Tylene.. I think it is the same in here too..
if you can prove the fact that shot is against your belief, school will have to accept. (I knew couple of my fellow graduate students at Cal State Uni who were exempted from TB test and immunization shot requirement due to that reason).

I think the "man up" advice is best.
What is a tiny hurt compared to safety during outbreak of disease?
(lol.. seriously.. it's not that bad)..

Seriously Clea. Shots aren't that bad. Mine hurt every time. But it is just a little pinch. It's nothing compared to the pain of slamming your finger in a door or getting a tattoo.

There are so many more things to worry about.

For those out there who just can't get past the little pinch of pain. Talk to your doctor about fougera Lidocaine and Prilocaine cream, 2.5%/2.5% It's by prescription only and has to be applied at least 45 minutes prior to the big stick. You have to keep it moist I just use a band-aid to keep it from drying out. This stuff is great, it completely numbs the area it's been applied.

I've slammed my finger in a car door and would much rather have that happen again then get a shot.. keep in mind I pass out at a needle sometimes...

Mind you, the car door got locked on my finger..

You guys really need to be more helpful and stop telling him to man up. He came for help, not constant pestering and telling him to man up.
Some people are afraid!! Obviously this isn't the forum to come to when I need some cheering up.

if every single time we are faced with an opposition, we run away; then, we are not really teaching our young generation to survive in a harsh world that we live in.

Immunization shots are implemented for a reason.
We understand the fear of needle is real. But, the benefit far outweigh the pain.

Wait until we have an outbreak of meningitis, mumps, or small pox...
Then, only then, perhaps we will wish that we took the immunization shot before.
I was born in a 3rd world country and I have seen outbreaks of diseases come and go..
Trust me, I would rather have a momentary needle pain than to experience those diseases.

Clea, we advise you to man up for a good reason and intention (at least from my part).
Although some decided to make a joke out it, but I do share a bit of their sentiment in saying that you should man up.

There are times when a man (or a woman -i believe in equality :)) just have to be brave and deal with these things.
and knowing the risk of being so cliche, I will say "Whatever does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

now let me go get my vomit bucket.. :D I started to sound like someone writing a motivational speech. :D :D

Sleep much Dodolah? LOL

but i was really getting hyped up for nothing:l

This is exactly what every one was trying to tell you. :p

Syn...seriously get the cream I posted. It works! If you don't have insurance, it's like 40 bucks a tube but lasts forever. Especially since you wouldn't use it every day.

Due to a huge project, I am nocturnal now.
A good 8 hours sleep easily becomes a luxury to me.
:)

Indeed. I know how you feel. I've had to pull more 24 hr shifts than I care to think about. The longest was 72 hrs, when Cape Coral Community hospital got hit my lighting and fried their phone system. I ended up having to replace damn near every component in that thing. When a hospital looses dialtone you don't take a break until it's back up!

Just look at the measels outbreaks all over the world due to the fraud perpetrated by some folks recently. In Africa, there are some spreadign rumors that polio vaccines are a US poison. So, now there are polio problems in some spots - want to talk a horrible horrible thing to see kids go though.

Shots are not fun, but they are not really painful. There are lots of thigns far worse than shots! I'd rather then use aneedle to draw blood than that evil little lance on the tip of my finger.... shudder. I don't think they use that anymore.

I have to go get some shots too. I'll be going to Nursing School(figured I'd make someting of my layoff and get a lucrative career), and before that, becoming a CNA. I have to have TB shots and a blood draw first. No biggie.

I don't fear the pain, it's the needles themselves. Even if you laughing gassed me I would literally pass out!

Eric, don't forget your hepatitis vaccine.

FYI Clea, I also installed the phone system in your local hospital. ;) Was one of my last assignments before going on disability.

Congrats on going to nursing school.. and welcome to the nightmare of continual stress and no social life; and get used to read tons of books weekly.. :)
lol Apparently, according to my GF's testimony, it is good to have someone to bother checking your essay papers weekly.. Someone who cannot complain even when you call them at 2 in the morning and ask them to correct your papers and send them right away since they are due at 10 am. :D

:) seriously, congrats though!
