I am so confused why in the world does my Panther like to eat bits of bark of the stick thats in his cage. I caught him doing it once before I cut the piece of he was munching on now he just found a little more the chew in WTF is this bad I dont want any impaction problems:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

the bark he is chewing on is high up off the floor in his cage. I cant put stones up there. He only chews on it for like a few seconds at a time. I dont even know if hes eating it or not.

If the bark is loose then I would take the stick out and sand it down so there is nothing that he can eat. I don't think anyone can give you a positive answer as to why they chew stuff like this sometimes. Some say it is a vitamin deficiency but who really knows.

Fuego went through the same stage when he was a juvenile, it almost seemed like he was teething if I didn't know better;) At first I freaked out, but then I just let him chew away. Once that was over, he went through a phase where he eat the dead, crunchy leaves that fell off his ficus. Not the yellow, soggy ones or the green, healthy ones, only the crispy, crumbly, brown ones:confused: He got over all those phases:)

Just scrape all the bark and junk off the sticks and wash them with a stiff
brush and hot water.
Thats what I do and havent had any problems :)
