I´ve only had my baby cham for 2 months now and im going nuts! I want atleast 5 more! I do want many other lizards too but chameleons mostly! My cham is the only light in my life right now! :D And im so excited to have many more!

But.. life is not all sweet and filled with chameleons :( I gotta eat, pay bills and other boring stuff.

How do you guys with 10+ chams deal with daily work and stuff? Like, I feel like all I do besides work and practice is taking care of my ONE chameleon, and it feels like im not doing that enough. Can only imagine how it would be to have like 10 chameleons.. Lovely ofcourse! But lots of time spent. What am I going to do?

Some people it's their job to take in chameleons and breed them but other people I think are extremely dedicated. My first pygmy comes tomorrow and already want a panther, Jackson's, fishers... And my god this addicting:D

I just got chief 3 weeks ago, and I'm hooked. Of course I want more... But I literally spent my 'emergency' cash to get him, cause I saw his skinny, dehydrated little butt in a little plastic box at repticon and had to take him home... It has honestly been worth spending the $400 something ridiculous dollars to get him just set up. I want to upgrade him to a bigger enclosure (he's guesstimated a year old or so) and I want to get him this and that... I really want a beardie too.... But I work a pretty minimum wage job (it's full time thank goodness and I love it), to help me get into radiology school quicker... So this girl has no extra money. But I've wanted a cham since I was 15 years old when I saw a veild in a pet store. Chief was my birthday/Christmas present to myself. I'd love to have more... But I think of it as being able to give chief all my attention, and I can give him everything he needs. This chameleon stuff isn't all that cheap if your not careful, lol :)

Lol- I just got my boy on Wednesday and it looks like his mate is coming this Wednesday (weather permitting). I got his whole setup along with him so I figured why not? Just one extra mouth to feed and she should make him really really happy!

Have you guys checked craigslist? There's often entire Cham setups there...

Do they have Craig's list in Sweden ? I think the thing to do is do what my husband does - he never has the same number of fishing rods as he does reels so he always needs one or the other- I'm trying to do the same thing with Chameleon cages always have one that someone is outgrowing so I can get a new chameleon to put in it. I only have one extra cage now- but my Jackson needs an upgrade ... If I could only find a nice small rudis or senagal or maybe a flapneck captive bred I would be all set... or one of each since I have the spare cage also...

You can never have to many fishing rigs. I guess the same thing definitely applies to chameleons.

I have their set-up as automated as possible - lights, water, etc. So I can check on them as often as I want or I can not see them at all for 3-4 days if I go away for the weekend or am cramming for an exam. Once their heat and water is automatic I just need to feed and/or clean cages. Which can take 3 minutes or hours, depending on how much I want to mess with the chameleon set-ups on any given day.

So invest in timers and misting systems! It's so much more convenient and gives them a set, predictable routine.

See I have been wondering this as well. I only have one chameleon right now but I am thinking about getting another..even my family wants me to get another they like my boy so much...but is it really just another mouth to feed?...

I got my first cham, a veiled, about 3 months ago, now I have 3 chams, 2 veiled and 1 panther. I just got the third 2 days ago and I am already trying to figure out how to fit more in my little condo!

I just got my second cham a week ago and would love more but really don't have room. Then there is the keeping of the feeders! That's a whole other venture! I just set up a shelf system I got on Amazon. I'm not sure which is more time consuming.

I used the "extra cage" argument to justify my 2nd. Really I am not even spending more in feeders- with two you can take advantage of bulk purchases that would go to waste with only one cham. The downside? Vet bills... Treating coccidia on my panther was around $400, if you had several with the issue- do the math. That's what keeps my addiction in check, making sure I would be able to spend the money on the best possible care for my babies. :)

I actually think it's EASIER to care for several chams then just one.

For example, feeders! how do you keep only a few cricks, roaches, etc. on
hand w/o having so many that they end up dying?

You would have to buy cricks in low quantities, or get ripped off buying
them from a pet store.
Most crick farms will not sell less then 500, so what happens after a few weeks, many die, and you loose $$!!

If you have, say, 6 chams, you are more likely to use up your feeding stock
before they get old ;)

How much longer will it really take you to feed 6 chams instead of 1?

Take into account, once they are a year old, they dont need to be fed every day, and you can rotate your schedule.
Also, with a auto-misting system in place, and drippers set up for each cage, it only takes a few minutes every day to fill the dripper bottles.

Only thing with multiple chams is the space factor. Also, cleaning more then one cage is not much fun, but you learn how to deal with it and it's no big deal.

So the moral of this story; if one cham makes you happy, several chams
will make you ECSTATIC :D

I have 2 chams, looking to bring in a couple more soon. The main reason why I haven't yet is because we have no room in the apartment for anymore cages. I also have 2 Leos and a beardie to take care off. But I'm also a stay at home mom so everyone gets personal attention throughout the day.

And I thought Addiction support groups were supposed to help you kick the addiction, NOT feed it. :D

Why do you think I bought 100' rool of pvc coated hardware cloth? The 100' was enough to do TWO outdoor enclosures that measure 6'x6'x3'. I knew there was going to be more than one cham at my house.

I was just surprise by my Jackson haveing 10 babies last Thurs. I purchased her from a reptile show. She was only suppose to be 6 months old. I am just figuring out she was purchase pregnant.
The college vet told me I could keep them in the same cage ; unfortunately we are down to 8 now. I have spent the expense of a set up for all the babies.
:confused:what is the expense going to be in the next couple of weeks.

What age can I start selling them?
