If your new to the forums, and chams!!!

Please don't be afraid to ask question from senior members. If your worried about looking stupid PM me, or the senior member you would like to talk too. I promise that I will return promptly, and so will they. This place was made for learning and to receive guidance! Use this fabulous resource to your advantage. I've been there, to scared to post due to the fear of ill remarks that may be received. WE ARE HERE TO HELP, NOT PUT YOU DOWN!!!!!

Thank you

I have a question about the forum itself. Is it possible to keep track of which threads you have responded to? I go to look for them the next day and can't find them. Hopefully I will find this one tomorrow when I come looking for an answer. ;)

Click on your profile and go to your statistics. From there you should see all threads started by you and all threads that you've posted on. Hope that helps.

That's really sweet of you. I've seen some people get really nasty with newer members.

I will certainly put my 2 cents in on this as well. I am more than happy to help those who ask, just send me a pm and if I don't know the answer I can probably help point you in the direction of another member who can help or in the direction of other resources.
This is a small community in this big old world and we are all here because of a common love - Chameleons. No one person has all the answers about anything on here, there is a collective knowledge that is shared because of our common passion and we all try to help new members to NOT repeat the same mistakes that we have already learned from.

So for all you newbies out there - ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS, this is how we have all learned what we know - well that and a little trial and error :D

Vanessa Like i said the forums are awesome and you will learn a ton about chameleons here!! Most join after they have problems..Your ! step ahead:D

Great idea! I'll volunteer my services as well. :)

Right on man!

That's why I believe I was promoted to a senior member... To help!

Right on, right on! Good to see encouragement! My boy had a bout of Gular edema because I was scared to ask important question about supplementation.. Hope to save someone the grief lol

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Good job cricket! I hope this helps new members feel more comfortable about posting! It can definitely be intimidating, but we are here to help! :)

For sure! Don't be scared people, I love helping people or even just chatting and sharing tricks of the craft!

My name is Trey btw for anyone wondering lol! Cricketkilla's just my street name!

I've had a couple of my own questions go ignored, I think its because there's so much information out there it can be get confusing even if the answer(s) can be found through the search engine. I've just learned to lurk and cycle through more experienced members and VETs posts to find my answers.

That's what I did as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can you also subscribe to a post? (I haven't done this yet, but I think this will also allow you to see activity on certain posts.) I'm usually on here enough to see the answers as they are being typed! Ha Ha:p

You are correct. When you type in a reply to a post, or start a thread, under the Submit Reply button there's an Additional Options box. You can click to subscribe to the thread and decide how often you want to be notified (right away, every few hours, once a day, etc.). Then you'll get an e-mail to the e-mail connected to the forums letting you know someone commented.

Thanks! I knew I saw that, but never actually used it.

And great thread, Trey! It shows just how willing and helpful everyone is and that's just what some may need to get started. And for the new guys, don't worry, those "stupid" questions will get some great answers, and wont seem stupid after all!:)

Sometimes posts get lost in the shuffle, or moved from one forum to another.

If you have a question, that no one has answered, just PM any senior member you feel comfortable asking.

Trust me, I guarentee if you PM someone, like cricket, sandra, carol, jann, laurie, ferret, myself etc. (I know there are more so dont be offended) someone will respond.

Most of us lurk the forum throughout the day anyway. :D

But doesn’t answering questions via private message defeat the purpose of a public forum? By asking on the forums that gives the OP some varying information, techniques and opinions that won’t happen if they only ask one person behind the scenes. Perhaps too, all that differing advice may help somebody else down the road.

Absolutely true, but if the question never gets answered because the thread got moved or lost, etc. the OP can PM someone to ask them to respond to the thread.
