If its not one thing, its another

:( Since we got Ringo and Angel, I've been turning on and off the lights, spraying their homes, getting food ready, and making sure theres water in the humidifier (very dry here). Well, last night I asked my hubby to turn off the lights and spray before bed last night. Well, I woke up this morning I started my routine and got ready to turn on Angels basking light and BAM its not working... I'm like this is just great! Now I might have to take our RES turtles basking light so Angel can have warmth til I get another light in 3 days.

If its not one thing, its another! *sigh*

If you have a basking light only for heat and uvb is from another source such as a flourescent tube, you only need an inexpensive incandescent bulb for heat. I use walmart incandescents (4 for $1).

Just saying- you may not need to wait to keep heat over everything...

im using a $7 75watt max clamp work light from homedepot and a small 40watt bulb from HD as well

Some warmth is better than none. I use a 75 watt halogen basking bulb from zoo med that makes my temps proper. You may use an incandescent which may not get you to the exact right temp but it's better than none. Also go with a value pack of desired wattage bulbs that work for you, so that when you have blowouts which are inevitable you aren't left scrambling for replacements. It could have blown because moisture got onto the bulb. Heat from the bulbs has a funny way of making moisture draw towards it. Raising the dome off the cage can prevent this or also using a dripper more and only spraying the lower portion of the cage can also help prevent premature bulb dysfunction.

Sounds kind of like the way nature does things...

(85.5 degrees each and every day all day long year after year on that special sunny spot on a branch in madagascar somewhere? LOL)

Indeed, some imperfect heat is better than none at all. It's like nature I suppose.

LOl today is not a good day. Angel is going though a real hard shed with her basking light burnt out (which right now the UVB light and the red inflarel, however you spell it, is on). Now I'm trying to figure out how to get a good drainage from Ringo screen cage without it draining all over the dresser. Yes I'll admit we were prepared =/
