Ideal misting timing setting

well I got a misting system with a timer. I am just wondering how often it should go off. right now I have is set to
starting at 9am running for a minute and starting every 2 hours for a minute up until 7pm

It depends on several factors. What species are you keeping? Do you plan to add any additional watering sources(drippers, hand mistings)? Do you need the mister for added humidity or just for drinking? Some chameleons will respond to the mister and begin to drink before others.

well I have a dripper and a humidifier but I am not around at home alot so I can't refill those. the misting has a 5 gallon bucket so it stays full most of the day. should I be doing it every hour if I am not using these other sources of water?
oh yea he's a full grown Panther. before I owned him he had a misting system from the previous owner

To figure out what you need that misting system to do, you will need to do some testing on days you are around. So much depends on your particular cham, the house climate, cage setup, your plants, whether you need the system to provide drinking water as well as general humidity.

If all you need is a misting to provide a drink for the cham, you might only need it to mist once or twice a day long enough to create lots of water droplets on the cage foliage. And, you need to make sure your cham prefers to get its water that way.

If you need the mister to keep the cage properly humid also, you'll need to know how long it takes the cage to dry out after a misting cycle and how long it takes for the cage to reach the proper level during a cycle.

Start off by recording your room humidity accurately. Remember, this can change a lot depending on the season (heating or AC in summer). Mist the cage so your cham can drink and clean its eyes. Record the humidity level right after you spray the cage down. Keep an eye on the gauge to see how long it takes for the cage to get TOO dry. Run the mister and record how long it takes for the cage to reach the proper humidity level. This way you know how long to run the mister and how often you'll need it to cycle.
