ID A Panther baby please??

Hey guys I would like help ID'ing my baby panther. I am pretty positive Mosaic is male. It changes multiple colors from a pale blue with pink'ish red dots all thoe way to the pic you see bellow. Please let me know what you guys think his sub species is.

You cannot really tell by color at this age what sex they are. It is also difficult to tell what locale they are (ambanja, ambilobe, sambava etc) if that is what you mean by "sub species". You have a panther that appears to be a male. I am basing this on the last picture you provided by viewing the tail base. The females usually have a thinner tail base and slight indent by the vent where the tail begins. If you could post some better pics(side views) of the vent area, I or someone else should be able to tell you for sure.

Thanks for that. So what age does he look to be? He is roughly 2 1/2 inches in length tail included? And when should I start to be able to See what subspecies/local he is? This is my first Cham and I believe I know enough to keep him healthy but alway could use more info on specific tricks of the trade

Most panthers are pretty similar. Nosy Be have the least changing of seasons, so females in captivity can cycle continuously. I also tend to believe they grow a little slower. At around 3 months, colors will really start to shine. At six months, you'll have a good idea, and at one year you should know for sure. I have looked several times, if not five or six, trying to think, each time seeing different. I see Nosy Be and Nosy Faly. I would lean towards Be. But I have an odd duckling out of 26 Blue Bar Ambilobe who looks exactly like yours. The rest turned out fire red like their dad. That is one great and bad thing about panther chams, you just never know what you're getting. I think he will turn just fine looking, whatever the hell he turns out to Be (get it ).

Thanks for the info. The place I got him could not tell me an age and by looking around I am thinking not even more then a month old. I really appreciate the time you put into helping me ID him. So am I correct in stating you believe he is a Nosey Be Blue Bar Ambilobe? Is that correct? We named him Mosaic and I am constantly looking at every availible option I have for takig care of him. There are a lot of opinions and advise out there and its hard to tell what I should stick with.

I believe him to be a Nosy Be. They can show both blue and green hues. I don't see enough red speckles to say Faly. It was the very first two pics that hinted faly to me, but the other pics make me lean the other way. Having no other users chime in, also makes me think I am on the right track. With panthers it is really hard to say at such at early age. But from my previous Nosy Bes and hatchlings, I would tell you that is what you have, if you were to flat out ask me. He should be pretty, showing that much color already. Enjoy him.

He looks like some of my young hatchings. They are blue bar Ambilobes. He might get more colorful or just stay with the blues and greens. But its hard to tell till they are a little bit older.

Nosey Be and Ambilobe are two separate locales. So it is either a Nosey Be or a Blue Bar Ambilobe, it cannot be both. He could possibly be an Ambanja. I do not want to comment on which I think it is, as I am not sure.

Well he is a little bigger and a bit older, not by much but he is now displaying several colors tonight being a pinkish red which he hasnt displayed in quite a while. Does this new picture give anymore clues on his local? He looks to be very healthy and put on weight but not fat.
