Ice cubes ruining mesh?

I've left ice cubes on my mesh cage before as a dripper (because everything else such as a cup of water or cup of ice are too heavy for the mesh) and the ice leaves a white mark on the mesh. It comes off, but I don't know if it will slowly harm the mesh? Any ideas?

sounds like it might be minerals in the water. try r/o water just an idea.

RO means Reverse Osmosis filtered water. It's a type of filter you install under a sink at home. Or, you could just use demineralized water for your ice.

No, the mesh should be fine if it's galvanized. Just a mineral build up.
