I woke him up to take his picture

I thought he looked pretty cool sleeping so I took him out to take a picture. His patterns were a lot more visible when he was in his cage but of course when I took him out he started getting lighter. How does he look, tomorrow they will be 1 month old!!! I will be posting more pictures of them when I do their photo shoot.

i think it is best to not wake any sleeping animal myself, as far as they know you waking them could be a predator about to strike.

chams are pretty nervy reps at the best of times and i find they are scared and stressed very easily.

I've always thought it was really odd how they totally go into this zen trance when they sleep, it makes them so vulnerable to predators. It seems really un-adaptive to me. You would think their predators would just wait until night time and pick them off like berries on a tree.

yeah it is strange, i think that is why they try and get into hard to reach places at night like the end of branches high up trees, with no birds around at night it is safer than near the trunk of the tree...

chams are pretty good escape artists though, they will just drop through the foliage and grab a branch on the way down.

The only reason I was able to take pics of him tonight was because he was sleeping on the bottom of the container and I have a thing about them sleeping on the bottom. Although I do keep my containers very clean, the bottom of the container is not as clean as a branch. Every night, about 30 mins after lights go out, I check and make sure they are all on branches and this guy was not on a branch tonight and he looked cool so I had to take a pic of him. Lasted about 2 mins long then I put him on a branch up high. I don't see any harm in what I did because its was so early in the night, lasted about 2 mins, and I placed him in a better place then he was before. I take very good care of my chameleons and always avoid doing anything that can be stressful for them.

I guess it wasn't a good thread title because that was not the main purpose of waking him up. I woke him up so I could place him on a branch.
