I think frank is dying. Please help!

I'm in north ga and found a great herp vet in canton. The vet visit was 49.00, that's not that bad. Plus labs I paid around 70$ for everything. Animal Medical on Knox bridge road. On some Saturdays dr.rodriquez comes in from zoo Atlanta to see him it's 75$ because he is a specialist.

Dont beat yourself up over it, these things happen no matter how much
experience and knowledge you have.

I would ask the vet and his/her personel about watching him for you.
Someone at the vet's office may be able to help.

Well my aunt was going to come by and give him some mealworms to hold him over but with him being sick he will need to be feed every few hours and/or given his medicine. I had the timer for his monsoon set for his new cage that I've been working night and day whenever I have a chance just to get it done before my trip and now all this. I feel so awful about the timing.
Do they let chameleons on planes???

You would probably have to check him. In some sort of small carrier inside an approved pet crate. Most airlines don't permit any sort of reptile in the cabin. This wouldn't be a good option in his condition. The vet or possibly someone from a local herp society might be able to help.

I'm sad to say that franklin died early this morning. Thank you all for your help and support. I guess it was best for him if he is going to die, then do it here with me and my wife. I feel so awful right now. I was so excited about his new cage and now I have nothing. I just wish I could have taken better care of him. What a terrible way to end the year. 13 was supposed to be my lucky number

Sorry you lost him! One of the heartbreaks about chams is they don't show much sign they are heading into trouble until they are REALLY in trouble. By then it can be too late to get them back. Still, you gave him a couple of years he might not have had otherwise.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose a pet, especially when you feel you have done everything right. Chameleons are very good at hiding their illnesses and I am willing to bet there is not one long time keeper here who has not experienced something similiar. Try not to beat yourself up over this. Frank looked like he was an awesome chameleon and well cared for. Sometimes despite the best care and effort things go wrong. I recently read an article about something called capture myopathy and while this is not what happened to your boy, it just goes to show that even the most educated, experienced animal keeper cannot always ensure the survival of an animal. One of our other forum members is currently experiencing treating a sick chameleon, he is working with his vet and I would say that the chameleon is hanging in there but his prognosis is unknown, I think just because he is a chameleon. Despite our best there are no guarantees. Please don't give up on keeping these wonderful creatures and I am sure Frank will always be remembered with affection, even if you get another. Again I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank you all got your kind words. Frank was my first Cham but won't be my last. He was a very special lizard. I only wish he could've seen his new cage before he passed. But the next Cham will be a very lucky/spoiled one. Hopefully it will be a panther. If anyone knows any panther breeders on this site please let me know. I would love to purchase one when I get my tax refund check (will also post this in the classified sect.)
