MAYBE i'm overreacting... but hear me out

i just cleaned EVERYTHING in the chameleons cage, just incase she was discontent. but...

She's been at the bottom of the cage, near the door for awhile now. she only goes back up to sleep or to hunt.

she wont stop trying to climb the mesh. i expanded some of my vines to extend to most parts of the cage.
i cleaned the bottom of everything even the eco-carpet.

i have her laying bin so i don't believe its that. it's very moist. she hasnt even tried using it, so i don't think theres anything wrong with it.

i felt her stomach and i didn't feel anything.

if i open the door she tries getting out, she's too big or else i'd let her. She'll easily fall off, its about a foot and a half drop.

atm she climbed the mesh and is currently on a vine attached to the wall of the cage shes climbing back down to the bottom...lol wtf is her deal?

she's eaten about 10 dubia nymphs today. maybe more

SHES 1 YEAR OLD and this is the first time she's done this for this long...

this would be best asked under the health clinic, also look at the top of the page when you go to the health clinic tab and fill out a "how to ask for help"

people are amazing at helping on here you just have to do it in the right spots :) good luck with your cham

i didn't post it there because i'm not sure she's sick. she seems healthy, shes as rude as ever, and is eating without any issues. she's just acting like an idiot!
=/

My guy has been doing this for a week now. It could be because the cage is too small. I just ordered a way bigger one today so I hope it solves the problem. I let him out and had him crawl around for a good 30 minutes and that helped him settle down, try that and see if she chills out.

lol its a 2x2x4 cage man.. and its a female... males live perfectly in that size cage SHES TINY lol

Technically, if she's acting weird, it's a health issue until proven otherwise.

That said, lots of health questions start here.

It's possible she's just freaked out by the cleaning.

Is it possible that you used something that is bothering her or maybe didn't rinse the product off thoroughly?

What did you use and how did you clean the cage?

i used a damp cloth

BUT. she's been acting like this before the cleaning. shes currently sun basking (off artificial light?)

I'll defer to those who've experienced it, but just based on what I've read, she might be getting ready to need the laying bin. It sounds like she's looking for Mr. Goodbar at the moment (is that too ancient a reference? It sounds like she's looking for a male to mate with). She knows she wants something, she knows it's not in her cage....

I could easily be completely wrong on that.

hahahaha nicely put.

i guess she's looking for a male... makes sense... shes 1 year and very mature for mating. I'd like to not breed her to keep her lifespan though. sometimes i wish i got a male (don't tell her i said that!)
if only i did proper research. Never figured the coloration would be different between males and females. was kind of a let down. but she's beutiful. alot of blue on her

maybe free ranging will help. letting her go on that "search for a male" and finding out, well, its not in her cage, and its not outside, will make her calm down a little. plus using that excess energy will tire her out..in the vent she IS NOT looking for a male, maybe she is just bored with her surroundings, again, free ranging can help :)

i'll try that now... But first... by outside you mean outside her cage right? look out your window LOL

i live in chicago idk about any other location

haha yea, just around the house! not in the snow :p i have a couple fake trees around the house im going to occasionally put mine on, just keep an eye on her, if she is in adventure mode, she is sure to possibly wander ;) but its exciting seeing how they react to things theyve never seen before :)

i should get her on the Christmas tree LOL

shes driving me insane with her rattling the cage.

i'm honestly not sure what to let her do

christmas tree pics make awesome christmas cards ;) should let her roam around on there and get some nice pics, and use them as cards next year! :D

What species? If that was my cham I'd get her into a laying bin...which curiously, is just what I've done with my 9mo veiled.

Submitted for your approval,
Tyg

I would be wary about putting my chameleon in the Christmas tree, particularly if it's a natural tree. The sap of some trees can be an irritant. If you do it, definitely keep it short and make sure you're right there to pull her out if she gets tangled up in something.
