I need a Critter

I have this bamboo aquarium that is old and leaks, so I can't use it as such. It is 18" in diameter in the inside and about 14" from the bottom to the top. The only ventilation is the back of the top that opens up. I thought about Beardies but they would outgrow it. I don't know much about Geckos but think they're awesome. Does anyone have any critter ideas?

a tarantula? a few hissing cockroaches, maybe a mantis? Cant think of a reptile that requires such little ventilation. maybe some sort of gecko

I could take out one of the panes and put in screen. How big do Geckos get and can you have two? Could they live in there the rest of their life?

General rule of thumb for cresteds is 20 gals per adult gecko and 10 gals per adult after that.

Hatchlings would be fine in a 2 gal until around 5 months of age or ~10g, then could be moved to a 5 gal, and after about 15-20g moved into a 10 gal.

Do not house more than one male together, females can be housed together but weights must be monitored.
If geckos are given too much room they can starve from not being able to find their food.

Thanks for the ideas. I did read an article about the cresteds, so they are out due to the size of the tank. It is probably equivilent to a 10-14 gal tank. I also thought about frogs.

Have you thought about mourning geckos? I know a local that is selling.

Not suitable for frogs really Donna, Its a bit limiting in size for things that grow fast or need complex micro-enviroment. There are many species of quite small gecko though, just less common than 'run-of-the-mill's' like leos, cresteds, gargoyls etc.
Cute as it is (tank), it might be worth shopping around for something bigger but less unique if you really want another reptile. :)
That might be great for scorpian though!

Yeah, I know Dan, you're right. I thought maybe, just maybe I could make it a critter environment. Can't handle spiders, scorps, or snakes, they creep me out. Thanks!

Is it like an aquarium inside? maybeyou could keep a few tiny fish in it? :) Or a goldfish called 'rodger'! :D
