I hate ants!!!

I remember as a kid, terrorizing tiny black ants that lived outside just under the front door frame. I thought I was doing the family a good thing to get rid of them -- hot water, soap, stomping on them. Then one day, hadn't seen them in a while, I stepped my little barefoot toes out the door. My wee-bit big toe just barely hit ground and an enormous swarm emerged, instantanously in concentric pattern, toward my wee toe. I shreiked, freaked, and retreated immediately back into the house. They retreated as well. Don't piss the ants off!

the ants probably nest inside your house or in the plant soil.
if you can find a point of entry, you can try sealing it. If not, then there is not much to do beside cleaning your cage well...

Try squeezing one of those black ants and smell your finger.
If there is a hint of rotten coconut scent on your finger, then you have Tapinoma sessile ant problem.

Clean your cage with distilled vinegar diluted with water and spray the ant trail to cover their scent trail.
Do not leave crickets over night or any dead crickets inside. They are attracted by smelly feeders in particular.

Pull off the cage and the table from resting on the wall. Then, you can cover the table legs with vaseline/ petroleum jelly/ liquid teflon product (bugstop).
As far as the cable or misting apparatus, you can put an inch or 2 inch of petroleum jelly coating that inhibit the ants climbing the cables from the wall or ground onto your cage.

Then, for last resort, you can always goes and introduced a host specific parasite called steinernema feltiae into the soil of the plants.
I have ants in my house but they stay away from the chameleon cage since then. And, so far, the steinernema feltiae hasn't attacked anything other than ants and gnats. Feltiae will keep reproducing for 2years. Afterward, you might need to introduced them again.

That reminds me.. I have to be prepared this summer.

when i was little i left out a fudge bar tasty cake thing...not thinking or looking at it a couple hours later i took a bite....next i felt itchy and i looked down and ants were all over me....i then fled for the shower jumped in (clothes on and everything)....i made myself throw up.....it was a horrible experience for me....i hated ants ever since...lol

I found the solution to your problem.

When I had my ant problem, I used Raid, It killed them all and their trails. Just make sure to take your animals out of the room.

Haha. I have a different ant story from back when I was little...

I was about 2 or 3 years old and lived in Tucson, AZ. We had a pool in our back yard and all kinds of bugs would just swarm to it because of the moisture. We always had bees, wasps, ants, etc. Me, not having any common sense yet, would go over to the ants, bend down, smash them with my little fingers, lick my fingers clean, and repeat.

While I have no recollection of this, my mother makes it a point remind me, as well as my boyfriend, of the eating habit I used to have.
