thank you.... i was just wondering about how i will know if she becomes egg bound when or if it happens and what to do to help. i was also wondering what flooring you can use instead of the orchid bark as i dont really want nothing on the floor or paper towels.

Alright, so adding to Karma you don't have to have no substrate at all. Some members use a very fine top soil so that it is ingest-able so there are no problems. But when I say fine I mean very fine.

Second, she won't be laying eggs anytime soon. My female is currently 5 months old and it will still be a few months until she has her first infertile clutch. So don't worry yet. I would recommend you have the supplies ready for the egg laying bin but it isn't necessary as of yet.

For females you are going to want to keep the heat down, right now honestly she won't really NEED the basking light but you can have it. The optimal basking spot you should have is around 78-80 degrees top. YOu want to keep females at a lower temp because the increase of heat as well as feeders will cause her first clutch to be rather large which is extremely difficult on their bodies due to the amount of calcium it takes to produce the eggs.

Actually they can lay eggs as early as 4 months.

well i feed her 5 medium small brown crickets twice a day, with vitamins and calcium 2-3 times a week.i am struggling to get the temp past 74-75

What vitamins and calciums are you using? It should be calcium without d3 everyday, calcium with d3 twice a month, and multivitamins twice a month.

Your baby is adorable. I love it when they are still small enough to sit on one finger. May I ask where you live? It varies a good bit on how the same chameleon is kept in different parts of the world. With chameleons very few are one size fits all. They are individual, not cookie cutter type pets.
