I fell in love today, as expected. Walked out of the vivarium store spending 1k....almost had a panic attack :p I think he's gorgeous, didn't mind me too much, and he even pooped on me. It was a match made in heaven. I still have some plants to add to the cage, only have 2 right now, but after spending 4 hours buying everything and deciding on a cham, I think I did okay for now! I am naming him Optimus Prime !!!

The cage is a 3'x1 1/2 x 1 1/2. It was the largest they had. I will buy him a larger screen cage for outdoors when the time comes. They recommended half glass since my parents like to keep my house at 65 degrees ...cheapos with the heater. Plus I am downstairs so it's cooler.

When we first put him in

He looks great, congratulations! When he's settled in, make sure to upload more pictures! :)

1k?! What did you buy?

edit: I couldn't help but notice what I think is a night light? Chameleons should have complete darkness at night. No lights at all. :) If its not a night light, then disregard what I said. :p

The cage, the wood, the vines, the plants, both lights and fixtures, vitamins, crickets, container for the crickets, pinchers for the bugs since I am a pansy, drip thing, my cool digital device that measures temp and humidity, and a spray water bottle. And the cham was 350$

It's his basking light. The girl told me to have it on constantly. Should I turn it off at night? It's chilly in my room.

All suggestions completely welcome. I am a total newb!

Ahhh, I see.

Not constantly, it should be turned off at night. I turn my basking lights on and off at the same time as my UVB lights.

Thanks everyone.

It's about 50 to 60 in my house at night, I use an electric blanket in bed. Should I turn it off or keep it on? I think it's why she gave me the blue colored light because I told them my house was cold.

Im pretty sure thats ok but yeah you can get one of those thermal bulbs that just emit heat and no light if you are that worried.

I can turn the light down with the knob and make it not as warm, I forgot to say that too.

I am so nervous to feed and water him in the morning, I hope he will adjust well!
