I dont know what this is...(Jackson's Chameleon problem)

So I noticed about 4 days ago that my chameleons appetite has shrunk, and 2 days ago I noticed that he also had not pooped in a couple of days, and the area around his bottom(vent) was swollen. I figured he was sort of dehydrated, so I started using my "little dripper" and he drank right up.(I havent used it much until a fwe days ago, now its almost always on) and pooped that night. well today while I was home for my lunch hour I noticed that it was still there. Im worried about what this could be. I live well over 2 hours from the nearest exotic vet clinic, so Im hoping I can get this figured out. He has had less energy these last few days, but Im assuming its because he is barely eating. (Hes eaten one cricket in like 3-4 days.)

The first picture is him the night I noticed it, before he had pooped.
The second picture is him tonight.

It looks like its just the area around his vent that is swollen. He is also somewhat discolored in that area.

Ouch!! There's obviously a problem either with his hemipenes or his cloaca...possibly a tear or partial prolapse internally. Another possibility (but less likely) is some sort of injury of the intestinal wall from an obstruction or a sharp piece of insect exoskeleton. It is probably very sore so he is reluctant to eat or pass anything. You should take him to your vet. At the very least he may need some sort of systemic antibiotic to knock down any infection present. To ease passing anything in his GI tract really raise your hydration and offer softer bodied insects such as silkworms or hornworms or roach nymphs. If a cham gets dehydrated they re-absorb moisture from the intestinal tract and urates, slowing the system down and making waste hard, very dense and difficult to pass. Also, jacksoni are sensitive to oversupplementing. You don't want to dust with vitamins more often than once a month to 6 weeks.

I agree that taking him to the vet is the best course of action. This may sound a little weird but I'd put myself in his position. If your butt looked like that wouldn't you want someone to take you to the vet? ;)

I made an appointment at the exotic pet vet tomorrow. Using a personal day so I can make the insane 2 hour drive. This trip is going to hurt my wallet bad!

I sure hope this is something some antibiotics can help fix. It saddens me to see him like this....

Please let us know how it goes...I understand with the wallet thing, but I have a few Jacksons as well and they deserve the best!

So he ended up passing away that very night. Apparently he had some sort of intestinal blockage from what I can tell. He could pass liquid, but not food. He puked up the medicine the doctor gave me to give him, as well as the baby food i was told to give him. He has a grave site in my backyard now. :(

Oh man. I'm real sorry to hear that. May he rest in peace.
