I cut open an egg...

Dez

Chamalot Chameleons
This egg started sweating two weeks ago.. then stopped sweating and dried up.

Over the last few days started to turn yellow and shrink..

I carefully cut open the egg and found this fully developed baby inside. I can't tell if he is still alive at the moment. There was still fluid inside the egg so there is a chance he may be alive still.. He looks perfectibility formed I don't know why he couldn't get out...maybe he was just too weak to break the shell. I hope I did not wait too long

I out him back in the egg bin with the rest of them to see what happens..

I agree, that is a pretty cool picture to see exactly how they lay in the egg. Hope he makes it, Good luck.

Something similar happened to me.. I cut the eggs open and what i found was that the yolk had been completely absorbed, but the baby never came out. I also saw that their neck/ head region was swollen.. I can only assume this was from choking or something similar. I left the ones that i cut open to see if they would awaken as i had no way od telling if they were alive but none made it. Hopefully you have better luck

When are the others in the batch due to hatch? I hope he lives!

They where laid in January so due to hatch now.

This is the first egg to sweat. All the other eggs look very large and healthy.

I can't tell if he is alive. I don't see any movement. I did not remove him from the egg I left him in the bin just as he is in the photo.

If he makes it he will be my little miracle baby.. if he doesn't then.... it wasn't meant to be

I'll let everybody know

That is very cool to see! I hope he makes it. He has obviously been alive for the past 2 weeks. I bet he will wake up and be fine.

I'm guessing so too.........fingers crossed for the miracle baby!

Don't give up! I've had babies get up and run around after similar situations. Sometimes it takes a day or two, but don't give up until you are absolutely sure it's dead.
