I set up a laying bin for my veiled chameleon in a trashcan and I was hoping I would be able to get her to climb on a sharpie marker I tried to put under her.. She began hissing and heaving VERY loudly! I tried and tried and she would fall over and land on the pothos plant that I have in the cage.. I gave up for a little then I tried to get her to climb on this fake leaf vine I have and she ended up falling all the way to the ground. It hurt me to watch her fall so far :( I feel so bad & Now when she sees me she puffs up really big. I think I ruined my chances of ever getting her to trust me.

How can I get her in the bin without hurting or stressing her?

I've been watching her all day. she went down to the bottom about 6 times now.. So i think its time for her to be in the bin..

This is why we recommend lay bins be IN their cages at all times.

also, you cant determine the exact day they will want to lay, so she may not be ready and all you've done is stress her out.

the only thing I can recommend is placing sticks and vines from her cage to the bin and let her go in it when shes ready.

Iplaced a small trash can bin back into her cage thy I had in it before and she still seems to go to the very bottom of the cage once in a while, does this mean she is rejecting the bin? I don't know what to do. I've seen her climb in the bin and walk across the dirt and poke through a handle hole in the bin and head down toward the bottom of the cage only to come back up in a loop. I've been covering the cage with a blanket and only removing the blanket to mist and feed her as well
