I am sooo tempted....

That first picture makes me sad. Poor thing... keep us posted if you decide to jump on him! Better you than someone who has no clue what they're doing!

That chameleon is so sad. If you want to buy it, be sure to take care of it better than it's previous owner You should check if that cham has health problems, and see if you can afford to heal it.Yes ,you will probably need to get another setup.
That poor chameleon deserves a better life than that.

The original ad says the cham is only four months old. The current owner no longer has time for "it". I doubt seriously they'd know of health problems, because it seems they don't know if "it's" male or female.

I haven't heard back from the seller, but I'd bet this was an impulse buy at a major petstore. The owner has now determined the cham requires more care than they originally thought.

Just based on the pics, I'd say it needs a larger (mesh) enclosure, certainly one that is vertical instead of horizontal. The substrate should come out immediately. Of course, more plants, vines and branches for climbing. And a dripper system and misting versus the water bowl it has now.

At this point, it certainly seems I couldn't do any worse. The most positive thing I can see about the current setup is that it includes a UVB light.

The seller texted back. He still has the chameleon.

He thinks it's a female because he doesn't see spurs. Purchased at Petco 2 or three months ago. No known health issues.

I can pay the $100, but I'm going to have to invest in a different cage and, at least, a dripper. I have extra vines and branches, so that's not an issue. He's supposed to be checking on the type of lighting he's using.....if the lighting is adequate and I don't have that additional cost, I just may go get her.

I know the veiled's requirements are somewhat different than the carpet's. How much more difficult is it to care for two instead of one, right? I'm already gutloading feeders.

Well think of it this way, if you choose not to keep her as a pet atleast you may be able to rescue her and sell her to someone who will take better care.

Thus, equeling out the expense

I really hope you get her bc she deserves to have a good home and to be taken care of properly. Poor thing! So glad you saw her! Keep us updated!

The seller is supposed to text me as soon as he gets back from deer camp (this is Arkansas ).

I've scrubbed vines and branches, and purchased a nice size schefflera, just in case. ;) If this doesn't work out, Crayola can always use it as a FR.

If he calls in time, I'll stop by Petco for a suitable enclosure on my way to get her.

Don't buy from Petco, you can get better enclosures for cheaper.

In fact, the same sized enclosure can be made for cheaper.

The size you need is gonna be around 80$ just by itself at Petco.

PVC Pipe and plastic hardware cloth with zip ties will probably do the trick.

I'd probably personally just rake out the substrate of the aquarium and add a canopy for her to climb on for very temporary enclosure if I was going for the least expense.

(If you are concerned with money anyway.)

I told the guy I'd take her, but I haven't heard back from him since.

I know I could get or build an enclosure cheaper....I just want her out of that one ASAP!!!!
