I have that exact type of cage( the glass one), and it is perfectly fine. will not cook them at all. Just be sure not to keep your light pointed directly over the top, the top of that cage is melted pretty easy, the lamp has warped some of the snaps and that middle brace bar on my cage.

It also has a decent venting system near the bottom. Mine hardly ever gets over 85, and it keeps humidity pretty good.

You got a veiled so you will eventually need a much bigger cage than that

that's no good... for now, since it's just 11 bucks anyway, i say go ahead and buy it.
and shop for a better one online soon.

that small cage can be used as a basking cage when the weather outside permits.
I have an extra smaller cage to put my cricket keepers in it.
Crickets are notorious in escaping. With that, i have double protection from crickets running all over my house.

ok guys need a little help i am going to get this cage at petco it is $11.00 on cleance it is the only one i can find right now. i plan to upgrade when he gets a little bigger it's 20x18x12. Is this ok for now? Yes he has lots of branches and foiledge in there.

This is the cage I recommend for a young veiled.
$11 is a steal!!!

I just wanted to thank everyone for helping me get my cham going, he is now in a screen cage which is roomy for him i have dripping water from a cup (no waterfall) i got the reptiglo 5.0 tube light and have a 100 watt bulb as his basking light it is very cold here so i had to up the watache to keep it at 85 degrees in his basking areahe seems a lot more content today he has been drinking water and eating a ton of crickets. for some reason he likes to crawl aroung on the sides and the top of the screen i worry cause he has fallen a few times but i hope he will be fine. i am working on getting a fiscus plant for him and them i think he should be set i will attach pics in a little while. thanks you everyone i think he has a good chance at a great heathly life now

hey thats why they made this website. well i guess petsmartstook back your stuff. i hope you rubbed it in their face aswell. glad to hear your on you feet now. did you find out the sex of the animal yet? it should be very noticable(tarsal spur) i can give you a link if you want to see a pic.

Yup i told the what idiots they were and they had no business selling these animals. i don't see a spur when open but can't get a great look but i think it may be female. when it has it's feet closed on the back the skin looks a little flappy so i'm still not sure but i think prob female. The only thing i am really worried about is it keeps climbing on the top of the lid and right where the light is i am worried it will burn itself or injure itself when it falls(which it has done) is this normal? He seems to get stuck there with no way down

Chams in a new setup will often climb the walls for a day or so. Also, young chams are more likely to climb walls than older chams. Don't know why. Perhaps they're inclined to a bit of exercise? It could be that the little ones simply enjoy climbing the walls? Just a thought.

ha ha ha.. seems you forgot my warning in your last thread.
I told you be4 hand that she will start hanging upside down and climb on the screen...
that's her reaction to a new enclosure.
Her way of checking out if there is predator and other chameleon happen to live nearby.

Give her a week or two to settle down be4 any handling regiments (if you decide to do any).
Resist the urge to peek and check up on her every 5 minutes or so.
give her room and space.
Leave her alone so she can start claiming the enclosure as her territory.

After a while she gonna start climbing and hunting via the vines.

Here 's another warning!
After she got used to the cage, she might become territorial.. and hiss at you or try to bite you if you came near...
perfectly normal.

start buying the cage furnitures, such as ficus, some biovines or real branch..
remember! anything organic/ found/ alive that you are gonna put inside the cage, needs to be prepared.

clean your ficus with soaps thoroughly to get rid of the pesticides.
clean your branches (if you decide to put a real branch) with bleach.. rinse really well... and bake them (some people boil them) and sundry.
and since it's a she... you will need another requirements which somebody else in this forum will give because i am not versed enough to take care a female cham.

Make sure no part of the cage gets hot enough to burn him/her.
You may have to rig the basking light somehow so it doesn't actually touch the screen. Climbing around is good...just adjusting.

i have lots of bio vine in the cage she seems pretty happy, the light i have is about 3 inches from the screen because i don't want to melt it lol so not directly on top so i hope that will keep her from being burned. she hunts really well she dive bombs down the braches to catch them she seems to reall knoe what she is doing (yay) here are the pics sorry they are not the best. this first one is her sleeping last night. i also have a bowl in the bottom to catch the water drip to minimize the water draining wich i will dump out daily.

yes she seems much happier i am relieved that i found this site and i do understand the harshness i was just caught a little off my guard lol. i really did try to do all the suggestions i think that merits that i am commited to this beauty i will be getting a plant this week just have to find a good one. thanks again everyone for your help and to Chad you really helped me thank you sooooooooooo much

hey i was wondering... does you cage have a screen bottom? because if it did you could put a water catcher under the cage. that way misting and dripping is all collected. i used that on all of my small cages.

no this cage has a solid type bottom i have a pad at the bottom for now just to catch extra water but i plan to change it often so no mold or bacteria will grow but i figure with all the ventalation it will dry out and be ready to reabsorb. i have been looking at a lot of the cages on this site they are awsome. i plan to make the move to a nice large cage in a few months when she has grown a little. BTW my 7 yr old son wants to name her Techno lol because she has so many colors He is very upset that i think it is a female he keeps telling me no it's a male haha.

yea if you are going to build you have plenty of time. you dont need to go huge with it being a female. pick out a suitable place in you home and spend some time taking measurement. see how it will fit and if it will be in the way of walking, but not high traffic areas. some people wing the cage as they go but its best to make up a blue print. i spent about 2 weeks building my cage. just dont jury rig it. my first cage was horrible and i smashed it.lol not to mention i later found out crickets can chew thier way out of porch sceen. so my second cage had to be upgraded to aluminum screen. which i love it dosent melt or rust, but it isnt cheap. about half the cost ofmy cage.

crap i got the repti glo 5.0 tube will this be ok for awhile? it was $24.00 for the bulb yikes.i really hate to go back to exchange it again
