Hydroton Balls for Potting Plants

I was trying to think of ways to prevent the plants from spilling into the cage when watered. Has anyone had success with hydroton balls?

what do you mean spilling into the cage? like the water drains into the cage?

I don't have the cage set-up yet, but I was anticipating some sort of issues with drainage from the plant and was wondering what other people have come up with.

i see well the hydroton balls will only increase drainage. from what ive seen most cages have a drainage pan under the cage which is how im going to set mine up and seems to be the easiest maintenance.

My plants seem fine. I only ever water the hanging plants that don't get very much water from misting (they don't leak much water.) I drilled about 5 holes in the bottom of the cage and put a catch bin under it for the water from the dripper. Misting only doesn't leave much water in the catch bin though...
