hunger strike?

My veiled chameleon has not eaten for the past 3 days. He has mostly been a light green, the color he is when he's usually sleeping. He has changed color slightly when the UV light is on, a greenish brown. He has not been very active. I have seen him move around the cage slowly these past few days. He spends most of the day with his eyes closed and looks asleep. He is getting skinny and his eyes are sunken. I have been misting as normal and adding crickets to his cage daily, as usual. I have the UV light on him a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening.

Should I try force feeding? How do you force feed exactly?
Liquid diets?

Any info will help.

Thanks!

OK so i read around on these posts to crush up worms and feed him by syringe. I crushed up meal worms and super worms and added water. I managed to put some in his mouth and after a minute he opened his mouth wide and spit it out.

HELP!

youve got to find yourself a vet & youve got to post more info. like what type of lights your using, cage info, suppliments, gutload...

Hi Amanda!

what i can say is that by the decription you said about your chma is not looking good:(

If his eyes are sunken it means he is dehydrated, if he sleep s during the day he is really sick and might possibly get worse to the point of death if continues any longer...and not eating maybe due to possibly parasites:confused: not really sure... i am not trying to scare you but a vet visit is in order asap:o

you should also fill out the "ask for help form" be detailed and show pics of your cham

The UVB light should be on 12 hours a day! Do you have a basking light for him? What type of UVB are you using?!?! Do you take him outside for natural sunlight? If his eyes are sunken in he is dehydrated and sleeping during the day, your cham sounds very ill! you had best get him to a vet before it is too late. How long have you had him?. Do you have a dripper for constant water flow? How often are you misting?

lisa, did you notice her lighting schedule and he is sleeping all day. That cannot be good and his eyes are sunken in also!

Don't feel bad Lisa, I do the same thing sometimes and then I go back and read the post and go "oh my gosh, I missed that" and hurry up and go back and edit it!!!

Nevermind.

Hopefully she did go to the vet today and we'll hear something from her soon. My fingers are crossed that it's nothing that can't be treated quickly.
