So, my little one has become obsessed with mealworms. A horrible habit that I have to break. I gave him a few as a treat, and now he refuses all crickets. I know this for a fact because I relentlessly tried to give him crickets, and he would refuse. After putting 5 crickets and a mealworm in a small cup, he went for the mealworm and left all of the crickets. I guess im going to only offer him reptiworms and crickets for awhile, until he gives in!

Silkworms are a really good and healthy alternative, much better than mealworms. He should love those! Give them a try.

yeah when i first gave my guy a mealworm..he refused to eat crickets..so i in turn refused to give him meal worms..now he will eat what i show him like "if you dont eat whats healthy, then dont eat at all"..i treat mine like children..when a child wont eat greens, they dont eat at all..they quickly get the greens down with an akward face, but then they eat the other stuff... "im the boss mr. chameleon, no candy unless you are good!" lol

go to Coastal Silkworms.com and you can read all about them. They sell them along with other worms.

So today was an interesting day.... I got him superworms. I accidently left them on the car and drove off, and when I got home my electricity went out for 9 hours. Wonderful, haha.

I think I'm about to see how long my male can go without food, just offer him crickets for a week....I have some locusts in case I break first though :D
And, Pilotman800 - Superworms are still no replacement for crickets....I only let my guy get away without eating crickets because I have had a decent variety of food for him, and locusts are pretty much as good for him.

Ah, I see. I will only offer him crickets for the next week. :D

(And reptiworms, of course. They're coming in the mail, soon. :))

That should take his little mind off the mealworms......:D
I think I'm going to get some silkworms or repti worms next.........I hope he likes them, my male won't bother with Calciworms anymore either. He's a fussy son of a gun.........

Silkworms seem pretty pricey. Where will you be getting yours from David?

Thats crazy, my lil guy is the opposite, il put waxworms and mealworms in a bowl in his cage and let the crickets loose, hel pick the waxworms out n catch the crickets but doesnt even look at the mealworms as if there not even edible.

O Well least he likes the healthy stuff and not the "sweets" xx

My guy better like the damn calciworms, haha. They're going to be his staple. :D

You're lucky, lol. My guy this morning has not eaten. I offered him crickets, but nope. He's like a little kid with candy...

Silkworms are definitely worth a try. Both of ours absolutely love them. We get ours from Mulberry Farms.

My Cham's have both been getting used to worms lately. Today they both ate a large cricket or 2 each but both not eating as much as they should. I will stick to my guns and offer nothing but crickets for the next week or so

Haha, agreed. He hasn't eaten much in the past couple days, and it worries me because he's 2 and a half months old. But like you said, i'm going to stick to my guns as well. :D

No, not really :)- he goes for mealworms and waxworms readily enough....its the calciworms and crickets he won't eat.......not too much of a problem really, 'cos it's easy to get hold of locusts here, and I breed the occasional batch too......
