Humidity for my chameleon

Hi I'm new to the page and also looking after replies, I got a panther chameleon about 2weeks ago hes about 16weeks old and have just found out the humidity looks low, its showing 40 but I seen a video yesterday and said he needs to be 60-70?? Is there any tips I can do to get it up. I've got soil at the bottom and 3 live plants inside the enclosure

You can buy fogger or myst water inside more often. Its tricky for panthers because they need more humidity..

Well for starters you could put alot more soil. You need enough soil so it won't fully dry out, if the goal is bio. At least 4-5 inches preferable.

How much are you misting and when?

Do you only have the 1 nozzle? You are going to want at least 2 or 3 to mist that vivarium. Personally would do 3, one in each front corner and one in the middle.

40 doesn’t seem too low during the day. What’s the nightime humidity?

Hi thanks for the help guys, I've got two misters one at each side, I was thinking of doing a water feature in afew months I just wanted sid to get settled and be happy with me

Looks like your off to a good start. But I would also check your humidity in different parts of the cage it appears your gauge is at he front top corner. Another idea you might consider is the styrofoam background I would take it out and have it mounted to the outside back. So you still get the look but you won’t have feeders chewing on or going behind it. Also possible bacteria buildup.

I cut down a shower curtain liner I bought at the dollar store to cover the back and sides.
It helps keep out drafts from my A/C. But it also helps maintaining humidity

To add to what Ruthless said.

I would rip out that foam, and do a great stuff + ecoearth background. Or get the cork tiles, and silicon them in.

They will get wet, when you mist and help increase humidity.

The cork tiles, like to grow fungus too, which is near to see! And means your ecosystem is working!

Bacteria in Bioactive isn't always bad, it comes and goes, good and bad. If you get a Slime Mold, that means your doing something right! Not wrong .
