humidity dropping

Yeah so he may not be getting enough heat, is he a darker color all through basking or is he is his same brighter color. I know young panthers don't have very much coloration at all at that age but is it a light or dark brown? Because if he remains the darker brown that may mean he needs just a touch more heat.

he was a tad dark when i first put him in then he would turn lightish green once at the basking area.i have now knocked up the heat and it reads between 27.7 and 28.8
he is now constantly lightish green and has come down to the middle but before he was basking directly under the mesh which for me seemed too close.since he has eaten 1 cricket and is drinking.

the viv has now dried out and it has been 2hr 10mins and i have just misted again.it got down to 37%

i have misted for 5mins and waiting for the humidity to rise.i will post back and see what happens.

also no one has replied to this question yet.do i leave the dripper on all day?

so if i have to mist every 3hrs for 5mins each time this will be ok???

How big is the room? Unless the room is huge I would add a humidifier to the room and bring the ambient RH to the minimum level acceptable to your cham (50 for vield, 60 for panthers, 65 for Jacksons)

its quite a big living room.the levels seem a bit more stable now.i only find they drop when i have my heating off.

Yeah, that makes a humidifier a less desirable option for sure. My cham room feels like a jungle. Probably locating it away from the radiator is your best fix.

Good luck!

Sorry you are having problems with humidity. What are you measuring humidity with? Would covering a side of his viv with shower curtain help keep it up? Glad you have got your little guy. We need pics or it didn't happen!:)

i have now moved him to the other side of the room.
now his basking bulb has blown.off to get another well the hubby is

i will take some pics tomorrow but the only thing is my camera has a flash and i cannot turn it off

kate whats the lowest the humidity can get as someone else on another thread is saying as long as he is having peaks of humidity he will be fine.i think it only dropped to 25% is because i misted for 1min.earlier i misted for 5 mins and the lowest it dropped was 38%.is this ok if so how long can he stay at 38% before i have to mist him again?

I'm really not sure. Just checked mine and my mister went off at 7 and its still 59% . Do you run a dehumidifier? I have one in another room which doesn't affect the lounge where Popeye is. But that might cause a problem if you have one. I have read of people hanging shower curtains on a couple of sides of an all mesh viv to keep the humidity in. Hopefully someone will be able to help you soon.

Hopefully it will stay up when your heating goes off for the night. About your dripper question, I wouldn't run it overnight as it is primarily to stimulate drinking and he should be sleeping overnight.

how many times do you mist a day?

will it be ok if i mist for 4mins at 7am,11am,3pm,7pm?? then lights out at 7.30?
i want to star getting into a routine, been all over the place today tho.

You worry more about these little ones than your kids.LOL:) you can try that. I don't have a mesh viv. Many in uk do and they work well. Where in uk are you?

i live in ashford kent which is near dover.
well i have the xl reptibreeze and had put up hardboard on 3 sides.

ill start again tomorrow and see how i go.i am a very big worrier.
i just dont want anything bad to happen to him due to the humidity.
when i have misted the highest it has got to is 91%.
bradley from captivebred forums is saying as long as he is having peaks during the day he will be fine.
its only dropped to 25% once today as i didnt mist for long enough.which would make sence.
but other than that the lowest has been 38%

i have just read this

It's ok if the humidity drops even to 30-40% during a little while between mistings. But the important thing is that it spikes to the 70-80% during the misting sessions and that your chameleon has plenty of chances to soak, drink, and wash out his eyes. When a chameleon is getting good soakings like that then relative humidity becomes a little less important. Because they're still well hydrated enough to shed properly, drink, and have clean eyes and skin.

You are doing great. Try not to worry too much. Just watch it over the next few days. You are going to have one sore hand with all that misting. :D

thanks
lol
i will start again tomorrow.but i think things will be ok.

how long after i turn on his lights in the morning should i start to feed him?

also when gutloading.is it best to re-fresh food every morning?
