Humidifiers

Just wondering, has anyone ever considered using humidifiers instead of conventional misting, to avoid the issue of drainage?

We mist in order to provide drinking water and proper humidity levels. If this can be accomplished with a perpetual drip (for drinking) and humidifiers (for humidity), would there be a downside to this approach?

EDIT: I see that the last guy who asked this was met with hostility -- but the difference in my situation is the perpetual drip (basically a water pump where the water gets changed every day -- so the humidifier would not be intended to provide drinking water). Anyway, I'm really just curious, so go easy.

you wont be providing a humidity cycle for your cham and he/she will end up in a respritory infection because of the constant humidity

if you dont want to hand mist get a mist king

Um.. so, what if you ran the humidifier on a cycle?

And I love hand misting and have owned automatic misters.. like I said, just curious.

I dont think the water will condense on the plants so......... there wouldnt be water to drink

misting systems like mist king recreate raining in the enclosure and is vital to clean the chams from any debris from his/her eyes and so on

As I stated in my original post, the drinking water is already being handled by an automatic dripper so the "drinkability" of humidified water is not a factor. The goal would be to alleviate the need for a drainage system, as it would seem that water in a humidified state would be more conducive to evaporation than mist would.

The thing you say about the eyes is interesting though.. is that for real? A humidifier definitely won't accomplish this?
