Humidfier

Hello. I've been researching about yemen chameleons as I intend to buy one next week. I'm currently buying all the equipment, the vivarium, lamps etc. I was initially going to mist the chameleon by hand every day but then I thought; what happens if i go on holidays and csnt get anyone to mist him for me? I've been looking at humidifiers that I can connect onto a timer so my question is what are some good brands you guys recommend for humidifiers? Also, could I used a normal humidifier or are reptile humidifiers special in any way?

For automatic misting I’ve used Mist kings which are awesome and the best I’ve used. Climist is also supposed to be very good, but I don’t have any experience with them. I’ve also used the zoomed reptirain. It’s not even close to the performance, ease of use, or quality of the mist king, but it works pretty well on a small enclosure. You just need to set it up on an appliance timer to get the misting the way you want it

For fogging at night I’ve used these. Both work well for me. I use PVC pipe to direct the mist from the fogger to the enclosure Many folks like the top fill models, but I take mine down and clean and dry the fogger and PVC pipe twice per week. So I keep to full pvc setups and foggers and change out a clean, dry one at each cleaning

Like everything else in Cham keeping, there is some controversy around fogging. Read the opinions and decide what you think is best.

I think the potential dangers of fogging are probably real, so I keep mine pretty clean to mitigate that

On my Cham cages I usually also put an automatic dripper on a timer to run a few times in the afternoon

I recommend just use a mister and skip the humidifier because it's a lot of work to keep refiling the humidifier and it's a little redundant.

I guess I disagree with this. I think hydration can be accomplished adequately with just misting and it’s been done very successfully that way
However there is data that suggest the addition of fogging promotes active hydration at night while the Cham is sleeping, and it more closely simulates the nighttime fog that essentially every chameleon experiences in the wild
