Well thank you, and congrats! I worked hard all weekend to get as many guides up on the new blog as I could. I still have a couple more to add, but that will have to wait until maybe next weekend. I also plan to update them with new information and pictures as I see what people ask about.

Great job on the hornworms Cheryl, I can't wait to see when you get moths going. You are going to be swimming in hornworm eggs!

Definitely, I am happy to help anyone that wants to take care of and breed feeders. This is why I wanted to take the time to create the blog. I wanted as much info as possible all in one place to help others out. I know from experience it can take a ton of time to research this info and many resources don't include the fine details you need.

I read this the other day when I posted about Army worms as food. ( Note: don't feed anything that has been eating tomato plants, it will be poison)

Excellent Job! Highly recmd. for any who wish to raise a hornworm colony. : )

Just gave you some rep for this Pig : )

Thank you. I have added more feeders. The blog now has silks, hornworms, dubia roaches, land snails, and terrestrial isopods. I'll add more bugs and more details to each blog soon.

ok, answer me this - how do you get your silks to behave so well ? they even lay their eggs all in a row for you - !!! LOL -
I have shared your links :D thanks so much for doing this - I am sure it was time consuming, and a lot of hard work- you are just THE BEST !! :D :D

I always put a toilet paper roll over the female so that she lays them in a nice circle that fits in my petri dishes. I will also gently remove the male from the female moth if they gave been mating for over 12 hours or so. Sometimes the male will just stay latched on forever. Once I get them apart I put the toilet paper roll over the female to let her get busy laying eggs in a nice circle and without any males harassing her.

Pigglet,

If I release mantids in my basement will they survive on spiders for a while? I found out that my basement is where the spiders are coming from. Lots of web in the rafters. Yuk! We don't use it much except in the winter for a coal stove.
If they will be OK down there I can then take them outside. I have a lot of Mantids outside here naturally in the summer. There was one last year I was feeding.

Thanks

Excellent feeder breeding guides! I just had a good read and feel inspired to try my hand at it!

You could try, but if they run out of food they will die. I am not sure about lack of light and how that would affect them.

I agree been reading those all week just havent committed to it yet for both silks and horns. hoping too soon. thanks in advance

You should give it a try, its fun to watch them go through their life cycle.

Go for it, you may find like some of us, that you enjoy having insects as a side hobby to chameleons.
