I frequently get asked about contest gallery notifications so I thought it would be helpful to create a quick thread about the issue. By default members are automatically set to watch gallery categories that they upload images to. In most cases that's fine, but with the contest category the number of notifications can become overwhelming. To stop the notifications you need to click on the Unwatch Category link as seen in the attachment below.
For a more permanent solutions members can change their preferences so that they don't automatically follow gallery categories when uploading images.
