How to make a drip system?

Can anyone tell me how to make a cheap drip system?
I tried just poking a hole in the bottom of a milk gallon, but the water was like... streaming out instead of dripping.
Ideas??

I use an old aquarium mag pump with adjustable drip heads, gate valves and 1/4" tubing and a digital timer. The reservoir is a 5 gallon bucket. I've had one system running around 15 cages for a couple of years with no issues.

A 1 gallon jug with a couple of holes poked in the bottom work great. However you want to use something like a hot pin. A drilled hole is going to be huge and drain out fast.

You can also use your existing setup if you just shove a paper towel or 2 on the bottom of the jug. It will turn the stream into a drip.

i used a 5 gallon jug. heated a small nail, poked a hole in the bottom. then turned it around on the bottle cap i drilled a hole with a couples attached a 6 inch rubber hose and put it upside down on my chameleons cage and it drips for 8 hrs. my chameleon aint never goin thirsty. i just fill it up once in the morning and im done

Is it bad to keep it dripping/wet 100% during the daytime?

Yes. And its a pain to deal with that much run off from a dripper running all day. I set my timer to run for 30 minutes first thing in the morning about an hour after the lights come on, then run 15 minutes at lunch time and another 2 15 minute drips during the afternoon. I go through 1 1/2 - 2 gallons a day for 15 adult Panther cages. I have a pair of Deremensis that have a more frequent drip since they require more humidity and drink more at each opportunity than the panthers do normally.
