How to free range AND supplement UVB?

I am considering getting a few trees and a couple fake vines and free ranging one of my chameleons. I am going to hand feed it only because im not up for free ranging crickets also (my veiled already hand feeds without hesitation) but my MAIN concern is uvb, I am not buying six lights to spread out everywhere around the room because thats freaken expensive so how to you supplement uvb while free ranging. Window is not an option because california in thirsty.

I would say try to find a spot - the highest point, usually - to establish as a basking area. Heat lamp and uvb. If he prefers another spot, move the fixture. They tend to have one area where they bask.

Sounds good, I did not really think of that. He is currently in a enclosure six feet away from the other chameleon, would it be okay as long as the free range plants are on the other side of the room? What would be a good source for bulk vine/transportation from plant to plant?

free range is the hardest situation when trying to properly UV your animals!

So I am working on and currently testing this telescoping stand that goes up almost 7 feet--

It has a High Power PL Arcadia UV bulb that can be adjusted to throw USE-ABLE UV out in FEET .. Not inches.

It is about 100 Uw/cm2 at 20 inches!

Or ...
it can be adjusted / toned down for closer use.

You can clip an optional dome light on the stand with a heat bulb in it too.

Still testing so it will be about a few weeks before these are ready.

They will be affordable... 160.00 or less.

There is another version on a clamp on / mount anywhere 30" SWING ARM in development too.

With optional Goose-neck add=on to give it a 42" reach.

and I didn't mean to high -jack a thread...

But I am very excited --

my "thinking cap" has been on for many many months trying to invent, adapt and deliver a product that will get UV light easily to free range chams (and free range Tortoises too)

I really want to hit a home run and help to solve problems associated with free ranging.

Yes, but I have souped it up a bit with a goose neck on the end and a need swivel so you get better reach and coverage.

but hey..
you know...

you can just get the light unit if you are a DIY kind of person and go to town with your own stands.

e-mail me if you are inspired to do that and I can hook you up with just the Arcadia PL UV flood lights.
