How to breed hornworms

U need a reptarium, and you need sexed moths, you want an equal ammount of males as females as the extra moths that dont breed will die. Its hard to breed hornworms and u need multiple large reptariums to do so

So just going to buy them then. THanks! lol.
I already have a cricket colony going, starting a lobster roach colony soon (i hope) and have two free ranging chams. not worth it.

yes they can climb, but they stay smaller than dubias. I dont really want 2 inch long roaches in my house.
i dont want roaches at all. however, i need to start varying my chams diet more so he doenst go on a hunger strike.

point made, lol

I find it sort of ironic, that nobody WANTS roaches in their house. Yet many of us cham owners INTENTIONALLY bring them in,and we INTENTIONALLY breed them

I guess anything for the love of your animals (ie: Cham CPR!!)

i do all feeders except roaches..i just personally hate them, i give my chams everything else (have horns, and silkies right now for them)..:D

I dont like roaches.. but... Kink is starting to slow down on his eating, and I think he is getting bored with crickets.
Besides, with him needing larger crickets I dont want the noise.
NTM im free ranging now so I dont want them hoping out of his feeder cup.
On a good note though- he is much happier on his new free range, no more hissing and biting attempts.
and on a Happier note- my hoe comes tomorrow morning!

i personally can NOT handle horned or silk worms. Childhood phobia of inchworms (and they just look like large inchworms, especially Hornworms)

My wife will NOT allow a roach in the house, i sneek some in though. Shhhh!

Ive actually never tried horned or silks. Horns grow to fast, and my cham is just now old enough to eat them.
and silks, well just didnt feel like it.
I wont tell if you dont tel my hubby im getting another cham tomorrow morning.. deal?

The dubia and lobster roaches really aren't a big deal. They really are a far superior feeder versus crickets. No smell, little mess, easy to breed and in the end, won't cost you money once the colony is established. I was a little apprehensive when i ordered the dubia for the first time but I just think of them as large rolley-polleys. Now I have no fear or hesitation to them what so ever and think they are pretty neat to watch plus their nutritional value is worth it.

I never thought to think of them as roly polys. I love those bugs.
I was gonna get lobsters, but i dont feel like dealing with their climbing problem.
so prob going to start breeding dubias.
once i get some and figure out how to.

Well mine takes care o fhim too. and by takes car of i mean he mists him in the evenings since he gets home b4 me, and turns of his light at bedtime..
I do the rest.

haha. I knew that much. I have to get an enclosure going though.

I have been looking into it also (behind my wife's back). Seems all you need is a nice clear rubbermaid bin, heat (80*-85*), food ( they sell food, or you can toss fruit and veggie scrapps in there), and cover (egg crated, cardboard. i see people make like a honey comb structure out of thin plywood).

once you meet all thoes needs, they will be off and reproducing. I also hear feed off any extra males (should have more females than males, i guess 2:1 ratio)
