I am new to this site and a new chameleon owner. I was told by another member to fill out a how to ask for help form, can any one tell me how to pull up that form, or is it a joke on me and I am looking pretty foolish right now? Ha ha. :)

He wasn't joking.. lol.. I can't seem to find it either, even using the search ^^

Given how often people in this forum (and, even the other forums) are advised to fill out the form, wouldn't it make sense to have it stickied in all forums?

Ideally during site registration it would be part of the initial sign up process.

The registration asks " do you already own a chameleon? "

if the user checks yes additional information needs to be filled out that is basically the form.

Secondly and also Ideally upon creation of a new user account that information is automatically put into a sub forum dedicated to new users where veterans can read over and point out obvious flaws/issues.

In my humble opinion I think it would be a great time saver, than say IYA who came here asking a simple question which becomes a far greater issues.

Well, I don't think you should be required to fill out the form in order to participate in the discussions.

I know it is supposed to be a tool to get the information needed for the forum members to provide assistance.

Unfortunately, it sometimes seems to be an invitation to have everything ever done ripped apart by people who don't even agree among themselves on what is the proper procedure, even if it can't possibly be related to the problem being reported.

I know I'm not the only person who views it this way because I've seen people post "you might as well bite the bullet and fill in the form"....which indicates there is reluctance to subject oneself to the experience.

I can completely understand how the information is needed when someone is asking for assistance.

For that reason, I think it's something that should be readily available.

Required? Nope.

considering this if a site dedicated to the proper care and husbandry of chameleons, it does not seem like such a big deal to be required to fill out such a form.

However you make a good point in that many forum users can be overly aggressive in their responses to people who do fill out the form. Screaming over the internet, or using nasty and hurtful language does not benefit the animals at all. So I agree with you there.

Though again I said Ideally, so ideally there would not be any people like that on the forums. ;)

anyways IYA I hope you found the form alright, ive been thinking alot about your cham who only eats one cricket a day. Hope everything is alright.

If we lived in the ideal world, I'd agree with making the form a requirement....but, as we don't and we've seen what it entails, nope.

Thank you every one I finally found it and filled it out, so please don't be cruel, I am learning and ready to make all the changes needed to make sure my little cham is in good health. I have learned from this site, that there is a lot that I am doing wrong or not doing at all, so please with this knowledge of my awareness please do not be mean.

I'd say it's sad that you have to beg to be treated humanely, but I've read what's posted here and I would never, in a million years, post my specifics because I do not have the inner strength you have to submit yourself to this experience. Congratulations to you for being stronger than I am.

I think having to "live in fear" of the help form is a gross exaggeration.

Not only does this give a bad taste to new members who have never filled it out before ( mainly because they are members less than 1 week )
but it comes off more as slander to many of the members on this site. While jerks exists, they are far out numbered by people who will react appropriately when giving crucial information for the well being of your chameleon.

I have filled the form out many times.

Once for a setup critique, once to identify a marking on one of my panthers, e.t.c e.t.c.

Yes there are members who will attack and say rude things in rude ways. But to say that it requires great internal strength to post sounds irrational. No matter what people say as long as the animal gets the help is needs, it was worth whatever some ass hole may say. Paired with the fact that there are also many helpful people on the site, PSSH, DAVE, SUMMONER, GESANG, Miss lily, Sanda, e.t.c e.t.c and I can only name Todnedo as having once acted in an "un-nice" manner. Even then it was not even that bad, and quickly resolved.

Please do not think I am calling anyone out by the way, I am just being honest.

Sigh....enough! Stop bickering! Iya78 is here to learn.....one of the great things about this forum is to help new owners in the care of their chams & they don't need peeps arguing between themselves.

So........Iya78 welcome to the forum and welcome to chams. :) You have a beautiful baby cham. The best reading material to start with is this:

Please don't be scared to ask questions, when I first started I had a million questions and it was a great learning experience. Read the above link and it will help a lot. :)

Welcome to the forums and remember that it's only the Internet. Text can be read with many different tones so don't automatically think someone is being mean or rude. Plus (if on the odd chance someone is actually being mean) it's hard to argue with someone who is being nice back.

Lol, thanks spiny.

Thank you very much, That is the main thing that I have learned, this place is to help learn, and I am learning a lot. Thank you for the comment on my little girl, but I am having such a hard time naming her, I thought I was done when I named her Cha Cha, but no one seems to like it. I name her that, because right when she gets her cricket she starts moving her little body back and forth, like doing the cha cha. I guess that is one problem that I have that it is a little too hard for any one on this forum to help me with. I thought Cha Cha was good though, the main reason for the dislike was that I have a gecko that goes by the name Chaka, too similar.
