Hello! I was wondering if anybody could tell me exactly how old they think my male veiled is. I want to know because I want make sure I adjust his diet for when he becomes an adult. Someone told me he looked about 4 months old, 2 months ago. Any guesses?

I took a photo with my hand in case that helps size him????? I don’t know lol.

(Also, im aware that the cage looks a bit empty, I justtttttt got him a new cage and haven’t had the chance to buy some more plants to fill it up.)

If someone said they were about 4 months, around 2 months ago, I'd say about 6 months...

Unless there's a hatch date there's no solid way to tell, each cham develops differently. It looks like he's still a juvenile and has some growing to do.

I've found that my Jackson has recently started to limit himself on how much he eats. I've taken this as the sign to feed him less. Luckily, males don't have to be limited as much as females, so it's not such an urgent worry.

Keep posting update pictures. 🥰

For reference this is my female who I've had since January as a "baby", so is about 11-13 months.

Yeah, but I just wanted to be sure and know others opinions! I sadly do not have a hatch date and I’m really just eyeballing his age. I guessed he was a juvenile too but it’s so hard to tell with chameleons as they’re all different sizes. They all share the trait that they’re so thin and tiny so that’s makes it even harder to tell.

I had no idea that it’s different from males to females. I was just a little worried as I don’t want to over feed him once he becomes an adult and risk obesity.

I’ll keep this updated for sure!!

Your chameleon is adorable! I wish I got to see mine as a baby but got him only 2 months ago when he was already a mean teen.

I heard that veiled’s—especially males, become super territorial and aggressive from 8-10 months, or sometime around that range. Is that true from your experience? I’m just curious lol.

I was at my local shop that I got my vailed from this weekend, and they had some 7 months old males looking about the size of yours. So, I think between the ballpark of 6-8 months is a safe guess. I know they're all such individuals, it's super hard to tell without a confirmed hatch date.

I've only had my female vailed, but I've started to notice she's getting her sassy pants. She'll crawl to me for hand feeding, but isn't as interested in being carried out of her cage the past few months. To be fair, she's also getting ready to lay her first clutch of eggs. So, I just respect that and let her be now. Unless I have to clean/arrange the cage, or weigh her; then I wrangle her on to my hand to put her in a safe place...

@LizardLurkin, @BleuSaphir, have noticed a behavior change in Spooble, or Namul?

My little Spooble is likely about 8 months, but he's always been sassy in his enclosure. I can't say if it's gotten worse or not, but I am excited to see how his temperament develops as he inches toward adulthood.
I will say, that I've seen plenty of sassy girlies online that I'm not sure I'd say males are especially more prone to it 😅
Maybe it's just a little more alarming because our boys get so much bigger.
