As above, how old before they can be sexed and how is the best way to tell. I guess it is more obvious with the adults. My babies are 11 weeks old tomorrow and are getting nearer the 'safe' period but I won't relax for quite a while yet.

Thanks Tiff, I'll pm him and ask him. I need to get some decent shots which may be difficult lol but I'll check how old they need to be first. :)

PS I posted one pic of the babies in the photography section. :)

the one in your other thread is a male. i'll sex them 4 u :)

Oh awesome thanks, I'd better get some decent pics then. I think I need to do it under natural light so it might be next weekend now. I try not to use the flash on them.

the diffrence between males and females seems really obvious to me with hoes. the males seem to have more white dots and higher contrast colors/ their heads also looks a little diffrent to me. ^^

really? they do change colors alot. you should seperate them by sex so you dont get confused when you sell them ^^ would you mind pming how you cared for them so far? i'll be raiseing some in 7+ months and your seems to be doing good.

They do change colour but it can be difficult to see as they are in such a small cage and the mesh is black. I don't have room to separate them just yet plus I am using a desk lamp for their basking spot and I only have one lol. I wouldn't mind at all but just give me a bit of time and I'll do it over the next few days as I'm busy cleaning all my reptiles and insects out at the min and I'm back to work tomorrow. I keep popping on here lol and it's slowing me down. :D

Please don't let me forget!

Hi Joanna - this thread from Netty (Sweetcorn) may help - if not you could maybe send a couple of pics to Chris Anderson? https://www.chameleonforums.com/hoehnelii-4-months-old-today-68614/

When did Chris become the hoehnelli grand master? lol, I do have about 25 of them and pretty much always do:)...they arent very hard to sex even when very small. The males will have a thicker tail base, where the end of the body and tail meet it will come to almost like a triangle where its thicker. On females it wont have a thick base AT ALL. You wont be able to tell by the casque or nub yet.

I'll try to get some decent pics up next weekend in daylight and bump up this thread in the hope you can sex them for me.
