How often to feed?

Do chameleons like to just eat once a day or should I give him like 5 crickets in the morning and 5 when I get home from work?
Whats your routine?
Hes only 4 months old so I know he needs more crickets than adults.

Also. How long should I wait for him to adjust to his surroundings before I can hold him for a lil bit? Just got him yesterday.

If i am home that day i like to fed small portions throughout the day. I usually stop feeding about 3-4 hours before lights out (to give them some basking time to help digest the meal b4 bed).

The days when i have work, i feed somewhat heavy in the morning (i offer what that Cham will eat without overfeeding)

it depends on the cham,
my guys are on seperate feeding schedules, meaning one cham gets fed everyday, and two dont.
but on feeding days- i only offer food once. the either eat it all then, or they wait till the next time.
you can do it how ever you feel comfortable. but if you get hoem from work at 6, and his lights go off at 7.... i wouldnt feed in the evenings. they need to bask for a while to digest.

and i would give him a week or two to settle in then try to handle.
but you can try to hand feed him now if you want.

Hello and welcome!:)
Make sure your lil guy gets plenty of water as well, my panther was really thirsty when I got him! You better off feeding in the morning this way you'll make the all digesting process easy, lights on, and lots of activity. No feeding or misting are recommended shortly before bed time. Misting before the lights are going off could cause respiratory issues.
I have my lights set on timer. I feed and mist 1h and half after they're on.
If he's a male feed as much as he'll eat!:p
Make sure the feeders are the right size too.

I think is good to observe how he's behaving for the first few days so you can study his personality as well.. If is doing fine, eating, drinking roaming around I'll try to pick him up and see how he'll react to that. My cham started to eat the morning after I got him and the fact he didn't mind to be hand fed gave me the confidence of trying handling him. He's not ecstatic when I let him out of his home but he doesn't mind it either.;)

Hes doing really well. We got him yesterday morning and he started eating yesterday afternoon. He seems very happy and active. Also I get off work at 2pm so it wouldn't be very late if I feed him after work too.

haha! i will. promise i wont step on anything important looking, cept for that high school algebra section.. who needs it anyway?!

OMG!! Funny you said that. I had to do some manual Algebra at work the other day, kicked my butt!!

I got lazy with Excel. Plus that was 15 years of non-use.

2pm gives you plently of him. If lights out is at 7pm (you have up till about 4pm to feed). I would fed a little before work and a little after work .

PS: I assume since you get off work at 2pm, this means you go in at a ungodly hour, lol. So feeding before might not work.
