How often should adult panther chams be fed?

Hi,

Just been having a ponder, as I'm finding conflicting info on the feeding of adult chams (as well as everything else! LOL)

So basically, those of you who have panther chams 2years old and above, can you please advise how often you feed your chams and how many feeders please?

Thanks in advance :)

6 feeders ( locusts fav ) every 2 days approx. I sometimes feel sorry for him and give him a couple of crickets on the non feeding days.:)

Yes, 6 appropriate size feeders or equivalent too every other day is a good place to start. Of course you would feed more blue bottle flies than large crickets;) Some animals may need more or less to keep a good weight. A lot do feel sorry and think they are starving but this will lead to an obese cham and be worse than being a little hungry. An extra or so here and there wont hurt but you dont want a fat chameleon LOL.

Thanks for the replies.

I think I'll give it another go feeding Simba every other day instead of twice a week then. (Old schedule Wednesdays and weekends. New schedule Tues, Thurs and weekends)

Can't help but think he looks a bit skinny, but he's just left feeders in the past.

No harm in trying I suppose!! Got some more locusts for him at the weekend but got the size down from what I normally get him so i can fatten them up myself with some decent gutload, then hopefully in turn, fatten him up a bit :D

He ate 7 of the 12 butterworms I offered. They weren't very big but 7 was all he was interested in (Fed from forceps I hasten to add, the lazy little b****r LOL!) Shouldn't complain that he hand feeds but he takes ages to eat them!! Shoots and grabs then sits there for 10 minutes with it in his mouth having a good gawk about!! My arm was killin by the end! HAHA!!! Bless him.

For such small feeders, he then did the HUGEST big poop I've ever seen!! Pleased to say it looks like he's getting enough water too tho as urate was bright white!! Although humidity gauge says max reading is 58% he's obviously getting what he needs to keep himself well hydrated!! ;)

Will keep u posted on how the new feeding schedule goes.

On the menu for tomorrows feed:
6 x Juicy Collard, carrot, apple, bee pollen and bug grub gutloaded locusts seasoned with Exo Terra Multi Vit :p

Well, seems to be going good so far I'm pleased to say.

6 locusts on Tues, then 6 more yesterday :)

Reckon I'll give him butterworms on Sat, then I'll get him some Morios too for a treat :)

Thanks again for the advise on the feeding schedule :D
