How do you make sure your Cham doesn't escape from his free range?

I have seen a lot of people on here have free ranged Chams which is super neat!! But how do you know your Cham won't wander off the tree and get lost somewhere in the house?? I'd like to consider free range eventually but it worries me... Do you guys cage them when you aren't watching and then free range when you're keeping a close eye on them or what?

you don't know if they are going to wander! They are very curious creatures and give them an inch and they will take a mile! HA! Not all chams though, I am sure there are some that are very content in their free range space. Not mine though! Mine cruises around on my patio. He has a couple of plants and alot of ropes to climb. I don't let him out there unless myself or someone else is home. I might leave him to run to the store but never would go off to work and leave alone. JMHO

i always thought free ranging was for like, a single room.... but i wouldnt trust myself with that, i couldnt comfortable open the door without worrying about running over the poor cham with the door.

seeing how most doors open inwards...

free ranging is for one room only, not the whole house, if you plan on doing a full house free range you have to child proof the whole house, keep it free of climable lamps so the poor cham doesnt burn him.herself

I have a room that I keep the chams in with their free range, and when I open the door I just very slowly push it in and poke my head through. I've never had one be behind the door but why take chances. I usually keep the door open but my chams are completely comfortable on their free ranges and really never get down to explore anything else. I only have one wanderer, but he only patrols the room floor and gets back up on the trees - it's all part of his routine. Everyone else stays put all the time.

You can always create a smooth barrier around the free range tree/area with plastic or something of the sort so your cham can't cross beyond that. If you get creative there's a lot you can do to keep them safe.

I have mine in a separate room but I too was worried about opening the door, or that he might squeeze under (there's about a inch gap) so I put a slick piece of paneling (about a foot and a half) across the door and taped it in place(I just leave the door open). Its to slick and to high for him to get over, just have to make sure there's nothing near that he could use to get over it on.
