How can I be sure my chameleon is getting all the crickets?

I put in about 4-5 crickets in my chameleon's cage every morning. I am wondering if he is hunting down every one. How can I be sure without cup feeding? He is pretty young, and very active. Should I just keep putting crickets in and assume that if he's hungry he will find them? I want him to get exercise as well as use his tongue so I am somewhat reluctant to try cup feeding. Thanks,

I'm no jacksons expert... Yet ;). But I belive he should be eating more like 9-13 crickets a day if he's young.. and cup feeding can spoil them but there tounge will he fine just hold the cup just close enough for him to use It. As far as predatory instinct and exercise I have a milk jug with the side cut out. Some crickets stay there for him some leave it. sobhe gets a little both.

The only wy to tell if he's eating is if there are none left in the cage. How old is your cham?

not necessarily, cause they could be hiding. I used to have the analog temp gauges and one day I went to pull them off the side of the screen and there were like 5 or 6 crickets hiding behind them!

If you are having issues finding ones that are lost, try and leave some gutload out on the floor and they may scurry out of wherever they are hiding.

I've heard other members suggest this - its kind of weird. I have NEVER had a problem with my crickets hiding in his cage. They allllways run up to the top where the light is. Maybe I'm just lucky :D

I'm not exactly sure how old he is. He has little horns, and he is much smaller than an adult. He does have his green coloration.
