Answer my questions please

Chameleon Info:
• Your Chameleon - Just placed an order for a 3"-4" Male Baby Veiled Chameleon from LLLReptile. Approximately 1.5 to 2 months old. It is coming to my house Tuesday, June 26.
• Handling - None, waiting for chameleon in the mail
• Feeding - What size crickets should I order and how many should I feed and how often?
• Supplements - Rep Cal Calcium with Vit. D3 and Herptivite Multivitamin and Mineral Powder. How often should I use these?
• Watering - Dripper, Exo Terra 2liter Mister. How often should I spray?
How often should I keep the dripper on?
Cage Info:
• Cage Type - Reptibreeze Open Air Screen Cage 16x16x30
• Lighting - Zoo med fixture w Repti Sun Florescent Linear 18" 5.0 15w T8 UVB/UVA and Flukers fixture with 40w daylight bulb. Is a 12 hour cycle good?
Like 8 am to 8 pm keep them on
• Temperature - Average Summer Temperature - 80 (Without the UVB and Daylight Bulbs)
• Humidity - Average Summer Humidity in my room - 40 (Without the humidifier) Should I use the humidifier (a VICKS Vaporizer is what it really is) to keep up the humidity higher? http://www.vicks.com/products/vaporizers/v150sg-steam-guard-vaporizer/
• Plants - 3 fake plants, 2 fake vines, one Ficus Tree
• Placement - In my bedroom where the light hits on top of a long shelf

You'll need calcium with NO d3, just plain calcium - too much D3 can easily harm chameleons pretty drastically. :(
Calcium lightly at every feeding, calcium with d3 twice a month, multivitamin twice a month

• Watering - Dripper, Exo Terra 2liter Mister. How often should I spray?
How often should I keep the dripper on?
Cage Info:
Spray 2-3 times day and make sure everything gets nice and watery, just make sure it also gets a chance to dry out.

12 hours is perfect, for future reference you don't need a "basking" bulb you get from pet stores - regular household bulbs get the temps up just fine without the add $8 you pay for a "special" bulb

Just a few thoughts

• Feeding - What size crickets should I order and how many should I feed and how often? At that age, small crickets are best. But you also dont want his diet to be made up of crickets only. look into other bugs that are small.
• Supplements - Rep Cal Calcium with Vit. D3 and Herptivite Multivitamin and Mineral Powder. How often should I use these? i dont know abuot mineral powder, but if it contains d3, return it. you need a calcium without d3. the calcium without d3 is dusted on every feeding, the with d3 twice a month, and the multivitamin twice a month.
• Watering - Dripper, Exo Terra 2liter Mister. How often should I spray? i leave my drippers on all day, and i mist every 2 hours for 30 seconds ( i have a mistking) just make sure the cage dries out inbetween mistings.

Like 8 am to 8 pm keep them on
• Temperature - Average Summer Temperature - 80 (Without the UVB and Daylight Bulbs) we need to know waht temp the basking spot is. a good temp for him would be around 83-85.
• Humidity - Average Summer Humidity in my room - 40 (Without the humidifier) Should I use the humidifier (a VICKS Vaporizer is what it really is) to keep up the humidity higher? i never had a humidity problem. 40 is fine when the cage is dry. also, live plants help with this. you probably wont need the humidifier at all. http://www.vicks.com/products/vaporizers/v150sg-steam-guard-vaporizer/

Welcome! Youre in bethesda? Im in Gaithersburg!

This forum is always helpful, any questions, just ask.

one more thing- I would get some plants and vines closer up towards the top of the cage. this way he can bask at differnt levels, and if he gets cold, hes not hanging from your ceiling all the time (which isnt a bad thing)

I will feed him isopods too. And I will try to get fruit flies and/or grasshoppers too. What zoo are you in?

Thanks, Dominic :)

You should put a branch 10-12 inches from the basking lamp put a thermometer on that branch and make sure the basking is at the right temp adjust by moving the branch closer or away until u have the desired temp. Cage looks nice try using bare branches so he can maneuver around the cage . I use thin wooden dowels from home depot ,I put one from the front bottom right corner going up to the top left corner ,and my chams love that .u can use whatever u want but I like the dowels. Good luck.

I don't know how to use the edit . Also u should put vines going across the top at different levels ,they like altitude they feel safer in my opinion. U can put atleast 4 vines going across the top that's why that cage is high so they can go high. Just don't put vines to close to the heat lamp because veildeds get to close to the lamp and they will burn their casque . The only one that should be close is the basking branch . Good luck
