Just a slight prob, every time i open his "house", my veiled "runs" to the front and tries to get out by any means needed. He eats fine and stays light greens and yellow-browns, but its really not helping with looking after him. He hasn't escaped with the door open yet but it's only a matter of time...

i have no prob with him coming out its just whenever i try to put him back in he doesn't want too....

Got the same problem here ATM, but today, i handled him for 5-10 minutes, and then, when he was cool, he litterally ran off my hand to get back to his basking spot hopefully i have got this one sorted

I have 4 panther chams and all 4 chams are similar in age and their cages are identical in size and live plants, coverage, temperature ranges etc. 3 of them love their enclosure and privacy but the 4th just absolutely hates his space. As soon as he is warmed up in the morning he is wanting out (pacing, perched on his door, rubbing his nose on the door)and he most happy on a huge fiscus tree looking out over the backyard.

He requires a bit more care in misting and making sure he gets UVB & his correct temperatures and humidty etc but after his morning feed and a few good mistings I let him free range between 1pm and 5pm. I take great care in making sure he keeps his hydration levels up. At 5pm he is either put back in his cage or makes his way back there himself when he gets ready for bed. Its funny I have tried this with my other 3 by leaving their doors open but they dont wander far at all. His personality and character is very different to the other 3 and he loves to just 'hang out' where ever he pleases (under the coach, on random indoor plants, behind book cases, screen doors) and I let him be where he wants to be for 4 or 5 hours a day. Most chams love being chams and their privacy....every now and again you get one that just loves to be out and is unhappy when caged up.

If there is nothing wrong with your husbandry (correct lighting, temps, humidity, size of cage etc) then you just may have a cham that prefers space and that is curious.

Personally I like my little wanderer the best as he is so curious and free spirited compared to the others and I just let him be that way as he prefers it and it makes him happy.
