The horn on the hornworm is really just for "show" and doesn't have to be removed before feeding. Hornworms can grow very fast...not sure what size you are feeding, but that's always good to know.

I recommend buying hornworm eggs, that way you hatch them yourself and when they are approaching the size you want you can start putting them in the refrigerator for a day at a time to slow their growth. I have had great success with a day in and a day out and can get them to last for 3-4 weeks that way. They are one of the feeders that i find very easy to breed and care for.
I read about getting eggs etc. but wanted to see if he liked them before I ordered a bunch of eggs. Its funny what one might find in the refrigerator of a chameleon mom! He likes the silkies too so it will be bug smorgasboard at my house.
