Horned Worms

I was at the pet store yesterday getting food and the worker tried to convince me to get some Horned Worms for my veiled. They are like blue-green gross looking things.

Just wondering if anyone uses them, how good they are for my cham. They looked pretty big, my female is over a year old now but should I be afraid of her not being able to swallow the whole worm? And we keep our other worms in the fridge, i hear to keep them from turning into beetles but it also it stops them from moving and squirming around. Should i do the same with the Horned Worms?

soooo good, my cham is ADDICTED to em. and dont refridgerate them. they turn into butterflies, so buy a small amount of large ones to feed immediately and smaller ones to keep for longer.

Especially good as a chameleon treat! Your pet chameleon will relish these tasty delicacies. These worms can metamorphosis into a large moth (known as a Hawkmoth / hummingbird moth) with a 3 to 4 inch wingspan.

Hornworms grow into large worms similar to silkworms, but they are bright green (varying to teal in color) and grow even larger and faster (up to 4 inches). The green color makes them great for stimulating feeding in fussy eaters or for reptiles on a hunger strike (especially chameleons).

O wow.. for over a year old, i think she can even handle the giant one.
They turn to moth and the only way they do it is by burrowing into a soil and pupate there. if you don't provide it, they'll simply die. some of mine used to burrow into the left over chow.

I stand by this feeder as they save my chameleon's life.
Hornworms are EXCELLENT in providing for extra protein and fat for recuperating chamelleon. They are great in providing moisture as their body has lots of juices. Dehydrated chameleon will certainly savor this feeder.

But, do be careful, many chameleons seem to enjoy this feeder too much.
soon they'll only want to eat this feeder and nothing else..

My veiled loves them! He's just a little over a year old and has no problem with them.

My panther chameleon loves hornworms as well. The first day I tried to feed them he wasn't sure about all that. It took him a while, but he ate it. The second day (and all days since I started giving them) I put one of the worms in his cage he sprinted and ate it within a few seconds. Makes me think they taste good!
