How long do Goliath Worm eggs stay viable-do you keep them in the refrigerator or freezer to hold them longer? Has anyone raised them from eggs, and what are steps to hatch and keep them growing? Thanks for the help!:)

I am not that familiar with breeding hornworms Since i kept failing after the pupae stage
However, i do know that you are not supposed to refrigerate hornworm eggs.

Hm, Probably wrong page to post this on but...

without beatles they can't multiply

Now that's a thread hijack if I've ever seen one.

No you cannot refrigerate hornworm eggs. They usually hatch a few days after laying, so aren't viable for too long :)

what kind of moths do hornworms hatch into after they pupate?

I had a sphinx moth hatch one time dont know if they come from hornworms, my Dad found the cocoon in a brick wall he was tearing down here and brought it home "knowing me" he has always been the leading factor into my start with reptiles as a hobby. From watching nature shows with me to helping me field herp.

I put it in a glass jar filled with dirt from outside I kept the sand damp but not moist and in a few weeks a sphinx moth was inside. I misunderstood the question I dont know about eggs, sorry.

They call the HW moth a Hawk moth. It is quite large.

This is Henry eating one... He was in the middle of a shed and you can see he is healing from a bad burn:eek:).

I found the pics I was looking for.

Hawk moth form a Hornworm.

They are a very big & beautiful moth. You cannot place eggs in the fridge. I have been able to take small horns all the way through to moths emerging but fail at that point :( They don't seem to lay eggs before reaching their demise??!

I have since been learning much more...so will be giving it another try. I think some of the problem so far was the enclosure I used for the months (possibly not enough air flow/lighting maybe even) however, I didnt' know the sex of the moths! Might be the biggest issue if no pairs were even in there to start with!

Yeah having a pair helps. I think if give the cocoons a light cycle and plenty of air you should see them to moths. Once you see the moth emerge put them into a box with a plant and give them a light inside for light cycles and you should have hundreds of eggs if all goes well.
